I just picked up my new one. I had a 2012 prior with the 5.3 V8. The new ones are much nicer inside, and have all kinds of cool electronics. Should tow my 2 place just fine, but the V6 it comes with feels weak compared to the 5.3, but that is to be expected. Have not towed yet, but it should work good. Most importantly, I can stream music wirelessly of my phone, and the stock stereo is way louder than my last truck.....

Yea all the new trucks are wireless. I love my GMC 1500. colorado sounds good for a midsize. 300 hp, whats the tow rating like 7k lbs? that should tow ur 2 place just fine lol. my bud was looking into getting one. Isnt there one with a duramax too or coming soon?

Definitely wait for the diesel. Gas powered trucks are awful tow vehicles.

Bad thing diesel is like a buck a gallon more. Gas trucks have no prob pullin sled trailers a few times a year.

With our Ram EcoDiesel, we can fillup in SE Michigan and drive all the way to Houghton without stopping. 22-24mpg towing compared to 9-10mpg for a gasser.
Gasoline is $1 per gallon less, but a properly sized diesel can get more then 2 times the fuel economy. When I say properly sized, I mean the EcoDiesel, if you are trying to get good mileage on a Power Stroke, forget it. Although the Powerstroke will still get better economy than a gasser, it's just an overkill for snowmobiles.

I will not disagree with you on a better engine for towing but how many miles would you have to put on to offset the cost of the Diesel engine and the extra fuel cost? For the average person can't see it being a savings!

Most people won't benefit unless they resell the truck and it maintains far more value than the gas truck. My cousin, who owns the truck, also tows his work trailer 5 days a week... So it was a no-brainer for him.
The extra $4000 will be made up at resell time.
Diesel engines are far less complicated, but built far tougher, so they suffer little degradation over their ownership time.

Yes I heard about the diesel and may consider it because my next truck I will have for a long time , keep my stuff for 10 - 12 years at a time . my 2005 1500 and 2005 malibu are going away by next fall for just one truck . no real need for a half ton even so this could be a decent replacement
So how u liking that Eco mite get one too what's milage without towing
Test drove a crewcab w/long bed with z71 pkg a month ago. Seemed to have plenty of power, and accelerates well.
Rode stiffer than I expected, maybe the "off-road" package isn't really necessary. Overall, seemed to be pretty nice.
Not sure if I'm ready to go down from a full-size truck yet.

For the few times a year i tow, gassers is way better for me. I dont like the stink of diesels and the noise. PLus they struggle in cold weather. geling up and not starting. They have ruined trips from us in the past cause friends truck wont start and when it does it wont go over 10mph. at least the power strokes. gota poor that nast sheit in the gas tank. If i towed everyday, yea no brainer. But gas truck pulls boat and 3 place sled trailer no prob. Cant even tell they are behind me.
