Oh, man...yeah got to try these....

I have to beg my wife to make these at other times of the year...

Nothing comes close to being Xmas without these little jewels being made...try them...
you won't be disappointed.

Butter Cookies
1 Cup Butter, softened
1 ½ Cup Powdered sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon almond extract
2 ½ Cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Mix first five ingredients together,
Add the rest of the ingredients
Cover and chill 2-3 hours or overnight
Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Divide dough in half
Roll out with rolling pin, cut out shapes with cookie cutters
Of course you need to make lots of santa shapes and xmas tree ones.....

Place on lightly greased cookie sheet, bake 7-8 min. or until lt brown on edges

Frosting
1 stick of butter or margarine, softened
1 box of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2+ teaspoons milk
Beat margarine until fluffy
Add almost 1 box of sugar
Add vanilla
Add milk—add more to make thinner frosting
(the thinner the frosting, the longer it will take to “dry”)
Don't forget the food coloring to make red, green, yellow and my favorite...brown and white.

And as long as your at it...those little sprinkle things make them as xmasy as possible.

Come on Nash...even you can do these...not that hard to do.

I see that "other" was the favorite so as a soon to be retireing cookie monster that stirs my curiousity as to what I have been missing other that the typical cookies listed.
My all time favorite is Russian teacakes (aka nutballs, butter balls, heart attack pills) you know those little round fat pills with the powder suger on them!

With 10 posibilities only, I tried to keep it standard issue christmas cookies. The "other" cookies section I suspect are regional favorites. Cookies are all but gone here. Grandmas Fruit cake revisited.
