Clutch Puller

This is some thing I learned last year. I picked up a used sled and it has a comet clutch on it. None of my existing pullers would work. I did some searching online and could not be sure which one to buy so I tried to make on my self. I had a hardened bolt that fit perfectly. I drilled a hole in the end of it and used a 3/8" hardened bolt to fit in to this with the head cut off. Well, it did not work. It bent the 3/8 bolt like a piece of spaghetti. I did some more research and found a method that I would not believe worked unless I saw it work.

Get a bolt that fits the threads that a puller would normally use.
Turn the sled up on its side so the clutch is facing up.
Fill the hole with water.
Put teflon tape on the threads of the bolt you are going to use.
Use an impact and run the bolt in.
BAM - the cluth should have popped off.

Mine actually came off with a lot of force. It scared th **** out of me. You might want to have some padding of some kind ready to absorb some of the force. My case I was working on a Yamaha 1998 sx600. The clutch hit the side of the plastic body keeping it from really launching.
