Compression

I have a 95 Z 440 with 5200 miles and a 99 Panther 440 with 3700 miles and i was just wondering how much compression should these have with that amount of miles? i tested them today and both sleds came up with about 100 lbs. Is that necessarily bad?

Probably should be a little higher but factors could affect that reading like guage accuracy, a dry bore vs. a dab of oil in first etc. Do they run fine? If so drive em!

my 99 xc 700 puts out 125 with the same brand guage that acatzl550 has if that helps. i suggested that it's a little low (100 is) but not toooooo low for that size motor.

As long as they (both cylinders) are reading the same, at 100lbs you should be good to go. Was the test done when the motor was cold or warm? As suggested earlier, if dry (no oil in cyl) this could affect the true reading.-Mezz

i warmed up both sleds for a few minutes before i tested them, and i had the spark plug out from the other cylinder when i tested
