Cost of the sport as whole

I think we all have to look at the big picture here in the fact that we are all out in this beautiful scenery enjoying something that we all love every year that we do this. I always wonder what this will be like 20 years from now I don’t think we will have quite the experience that we enjoy now, so enjoy the moment and be happy with what we’ve got regardless of how much or how little we spend doing it
Now get out there and ride,Captain, ride on your mystery ship

Not really an expense savings but having a garage up north eliminates the need for a tow vehicle and trailer. Seemed like we were always either going up or coming home in a snowstorm. Been doing this way since 1990 or 91. Problem is too far away to wrench but we have a great mechanic who has a key.He picks them up services them and puts them back in the garage every December so it’s kind of a turn key for us.

Honestly the lack of consistent snow is far and away the biggest problem. There's plenty of cheap used sleds and gear out there. It's chasing snow that drives year to year cost through the roof. My in laws have a place right on the trail in Adams County Wisconsin and it would cost us squat to ride there. But instead the last few years we've been spending boat loads having to go up to the U.P. and Northern Wisconsin

Well....this thread has gone political rather quickly. Before things "go dark" around here I venture to say the scariest of all things that are Climate Change is the Carbon Tax. That'll be the first of the Money Grabs and and an increased cost in everything related to your energy needs. Heating your home, driving to work, and way down the list...riding your snowmobile.

Energy sources have always evolved. And always will by innovation. I remember President Kennedy telling me as a youngster, that we would put a man on the moon. And in a relatively short period of time! This I thought was a real stretch, at best. However we did in fact do just as he said, U.S. astronauts set foot on the moon! It happens.

All of the snow, ice, rain, open trails, closed trails and now cold again in the recent past have left my little corner of the world with mostly smooth ice on our little lake down here in SE WI....while I hear no other sleds running, I have my APEX on the lake with 7.5" of freshly sharpened carbides on the front and 160ish picks out back,....scratchers deployed and having the time of my life running the contours of the shore and 1000',- 110 mph rips down the center.....There needs to be a passion....You all have it, so do I but I'm not so sure about the next generations who are made to feel guilty about cow farts.
