Law maker have 180 days to write laws which allow concealed carry in Illinois. This was the last state that did not allow CC. This is a big win against the gun hating Illinois Dems.

Watch the crime rates drop Illinois. Welcome to the club!

Chicago has always had CC. The gangbangers have been doing it for decades. It would be nice to have a little something the next time I bravely venture into the city.

The dog and pony show in Springfield will put so many restrictions and requirements on this law that the gang bangers will still be the only ones carrying. I don't know where the CC permits from Florida and other states will come into play. Time will tell.

Mixed feelings on this. I own a gun, proud hunter, and have always been well versed on how to use one. I love my right to own a gun but not sure on allowing the other yahoos to carry one. I have traveled most major cities, good sides and bad but have never even close had the slightest thought of needing to pull a weapon. Allowing people to carry, no Im not against it but there must be major limitations. I teach at a college and you wouldn't believe the amount of student who need mental help or have breakdowns. We have 5,000 people coming through our doors eveyrday. Our counselors have too much work. Add a gun to the mix, yeah I don't want to imagine that. Lastly, what has Illinois done that was right, this State (yes I live there) is an absolute joke.

All the CC laws are a joke.
only law abiding people follow the laws and the quack jobs and bangers know it.
when was the last time u saw a mass shooting someplace that did not have a 'no guns allowed sticker' on every door? never that's when.
as long as Mc donalds and collages high schools Movie theaters post offices GM plants Cafeteria's citizenship classrooms on and on and on.
with history on my side as far as mass shootings I know I would feel better knowing at least some teachers in every school where holding and trained to use.now postal workers I am not so sure about

Your point above is exactly why people need to CC. Someone that needs mental help and wants to do harm will get a gun, no doubt about it. We need people that can take them out when they decide to act. What college was it out east, where 22 students were murdered a few years ago? What if someone had been CC'ing and was able to take him out before he killed so many?

mspease,
we are just having all the discussions lately, when i get up to Hayward we need to ride together! I don't disagree with your or ezra's post either. After some of those terrible shootings I thought maybe things would have been better if people did have CC's. At the same point, I just wonder about training and other limitations. If a person came into my class with a weapon and started shooting, would people with CC's be able to react calmly and counter with precision or would they just start firing and end up killing more people. I don't think it would be a deterent, hence all gangbangers carry guns and it doesn't deter them. If it passes,I would get my license though, just not sure I would actually carry. just my thoughts! man when is it going to snow, i need to clear my thoughts!

durphee,

We sure are! :) You make some valid points, but I still prefer people be able to respond rather than be unarmed and at the mercy of the shooter.

I've never owned a gun, but I'm looking at my options now.
