Custom Pivot Riser

I have on order a 5" fly riser along with the pivot adapter for my new 500. I took the 3" sportech from that sled and put it on my 700 due to the nice shiny looking aluminum. I was sitting on my sleds this morning with nothing to do, so I came up with an idea. I headed over to acatzl550's house and welded this up. I now have 7" of rise (6" of TRUE rise) and it is a pivot riser. All I have left is to paint it (which will take a few days since I want it painted right) No brake or throttle cable extensions needed (my 500 needed a brake extension, I bought brake line for a car at fleet farm and put it on, under $5). I thought about doing something like this for the fly riser but I didn't want a hack job so I just ponied up and bought the $18 adaptor. I guess that adaptor adds an inch of rise. So now both my sleds will have 6-7" of rise. I don't think my mom will be too happy when she has to ride one this winter LOL!

Might not be a bad Idea to take the sharp corners off with a grinder, after that looks great to me!

I planned on doing that and totally forgot, I have 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint on it and acatzl550 came over to my house tonight and said "you should grind those corners off" I'll be getting my angle grinder back from my grandpa soon once he's done with it. I'll probably grind it and just paint over it. My die grinder will take way to long and ruin all my bits if i try to round it off.

Just a question: do you always like having the handlebars so high? I thought you typically rode on the trails. I've thought about putting it up a couple inches on my Fusion, but not sure if I'd always like it. The Fusion has the rider-select, but that's a different adjustment.

I love it. It reduces steering effort a good amount. How tall are you? If you are typically over 5'8" (excludes Skylar :D ) You could benefit from a 2" or bigger. I am 5'8" Lol so I guess I shouldn't be talking. I do typically ride trails, but do some ditchbanging/off-trail. The trails in my area are rather rough, and unless you want to go 20 mph and feel every bump thru a plowed field, standing up helps a lot on the knees. My dads 99 xc sp 700 even has a 1.5" riser on it that I made (he's 5'9"), which he liked a lot. He said it made steering easier, but wasn't too high to make his arms sore.

I'm 6'3". After riding an M6 in Wyoming this year, I found I liked the handlebars a little higher, even when on the trail. Do you know if there is any issue with using a small riser with the rider select on a Fusion?

Being 6'3" a riser should help your back out. I do not know of any issues with using a riser on a rider select sled. The handlebar is the same, and the steering post is what pivots I believe. I would suggest just a block riser for you, since the rider select allows you to pivot it. You may have a small gap between your handlebar pad and the console, which shouldn't be a problem.

How far can you generally go before you have to start messing with brake lines, etc.? I'd like to add 2" or so but don't want to mess with it.

Any sled will do 2" with no problems. I did this 7" on my 99 xc 700 with only extending a handwarmer wire, throttle and brake had plenty of slack.

Looks good here's another idea for you this is what i did on my 700. I cut the plate off the top and tacked a nurled pipe on top then wrapped a piece of 3/16" flat stock around it before welding it.

Your old man pm'ed me about what you did, looks good! I just wouldn't have been able to do it because I have a non-pivot riser
