I was with Crossfire, stayed in Baudette, rode south and west -- was pleasantly surprised!! weather forecast looks like it might hold snow for another week up there.

Fcat700........ of course everyone's opinion differs, but I go by this rule...... "Until the bad out weighs the good, I sled"..... right now there is a ton of very good still ....towns and some road trails are starting to show effects of spring, I call the riding this last weekend 75% no issue, 25% thin ......I will be going back up Thur-Sun racking up another couple hundred miles..... clock is ticking

I remember the last El Nino year we were only able to ride the Chain O'Lakes in N. Illinois for 3 weeks then the lakes opened up in late January. Sucked, had very few miles that season. One of the many reasons I moved up north.... It's been pretty quiet up in the Western UP with the exception of last week. Still a decent base to be groomed for the next couple weeks with colder temps and a possible storm coming through. I guess like any year you can only hope for the best and prepare for the worst. If you can head north next weekend (Feb 27th) for Braaaap Fest in Springstead Wi. I'll post an event on it.

I don't think that it matters if people hear about that area. There is never much traffic up there. I ride that area some and probably meet about 2 or 3 sleds every 100 miles on a busy weekend.

I know, I just don't understand the obsession with going to the UP if you live in MN with all the great trails up north, which if you live in the cities, is about 2 hours less drive time. Oh well, I'll wave next time I go by a sled thinking its you!

Vin, still a lot of snow up here, if you could find the time, it would be worth it. I know I would be ultra depressed if I had to call it due to nonexistent conditions this early & in your case, for the 3rd yr. in a row. Hang in there.-Mezz

Oh well. Was a blast being back on a sled!
