Diamond Drive on my Sno Pro

Want to take the drive out, and take it apart to clean it. I've never taken it out before.
I have read that you need to stick an exstention in from the brake side to get the bolt that holds the clutch on.
The problem is that the side panel of the sled does not come off, unless you take the rivets out. Am I missing something, or is this what I have to do?
Thanks .

I don't know if it will help, but I can email you a step by step article with pictures that was in one of the rags recently. Get me your email address on here or PM me with it if you would like it.

I've got that same mag, but they don't really say anything about taking the rivets out of the side panel.
I can't believe that if I took it to the dealer for this service, that they would drill the rivets out to get at the bolt.
What I was wondering, is if anyone else has done this without haveing to drill those out.

Go to HCS (Hard core sledders) there is a sticky there that shows you step by step on how to take it out. Its ridiculously easy! I pysched myself out on it also, but following the thread is was so easy and I ended up kicking myself for not doing this every year.

Just be careful when prying the drive apart to split it in half, its a paper gasket and you might rip it pulling it apart.

Frosty, did you drill your rivets out to get the side panel off, or did you leave it on and just work around it?

I have an 11 xfire and just swung the side panels all the way to the rear of the sled. Neither side was really in the way. I replaced my track this summer and actually getting the brake assembly to line up was more of a pain than the diamond drive.

Like I said follow the thread, take your time and don't rush, you'll be fine. If I can do it, anyone can do it.

Well I see Cat got thier heads out of thier butts and made it possible to swing the side panel's back and out of the way. Guess I'll just work around it. The job looks easy to me as long as I can get at it. Thanks Frosty

on a f cant u use a bunch of small extensions.
if not I would drill out the pannel and get a factory clutch side grommet or just a rubber grommit.because this should not be your or the next owners last time pulling drive

Yes, I did think of useing all small extensions, but drilling a hole and putting a plug in sounds better to me.
Thanks.
