boondocker i have three hd boxs in the bedroom, living room and basement, and only paid for one, the other two were free, ... ive had direct for ten years .
Shussshhhh!
I would NOT check with direct tv on this one....you are gett'n away with one here. Dish has a better deal for multiple tv sets.
I agree with brooks....like insurance, and cell phone companies, they KNOW you don't want to hassle with switching so they both stick it to you if you are a repeat customer. So get the best rates by switching, or as other have said, "threaten" to switch where they will transfer your call to the "disconnection" department where they can cut all sorts of deals to keep you as a customer. Like cell phones this is a highly profitable business that the more customers you have...and the equipment they have to handle is the same...the more money they make.
Change is good....try them both and see what you think. As far as connections go, use your brains and a spot of silicone, and you will have few problems over the life of the service. If they give you a hassle gettin out to fix it, tell them you are "fed" up with issues and are dropping them for the competition...and watch how fast they can get a tech out there to correct things.
