the 3 inches of snow we received on dec 14th and 15th has settled down to about one inch on the ground. Not much has melted since its been cold, but i think some has just evaporated.

Also gov whitmer just extended the ban on indoor dining thru jan 15th.

what a flippin joke!!!! Things will be so much better come Jan 15th, if you think this is the end of this you are seriously mistaken!! I feel for every bar/eatery in the north woods, will likely be a different landscape when this is over! this is nothing but Gov control at its worst! WHAT A SHAME!!!

You should see what I wanted to post about you! I would be kicked off the inner web for life....

When I was younger, arrogant, and stupid, I used to troll some other website message boards (not related to snowmobiling, weather, or anything like that). I used to have a lot in common with MP; he/she is definitely displaying some classic troll activity, for what it's worth. I'm glad that I grew out of that phase of my life! (And yes, I just fed the troll: but I am done now!)

Whitmer is total piece of trash. I'm sure she's sending funds to all of the bars and dine in places to help cover insurance, mortgages, and liquor license annual fees which I know first hand aren't cheap. I'm sure the electricity and heating is paid as well. What a total piece of trash she is, just pathetic and horrible. She will have to answer for much when she closes here eyes for the last time on earth. Shame on her.

Agreed!! One thing a lot of people don't understand about business is there is one constant..EXPENSES! and EXPENSES don't give jack poop about who is coming through your door or not coming through your door! and where is their help??? It was a serious shame how the last package was pillaged by businesses that had no business taking the forgiveness loans or grants regardless of what they took. And I still say since the tax payer funded the package they should publish a list of who, what and how much was taken, people would be appalled !!! While others were forced and continue to shutter there is no help for them (oh but wait...us small business owners are independently wealthy....YEAH RIGHT) This plain and simple has to stop, this cant continue!

From a very old song, 40's I think: “the rich get rich and the poor get poorer; in the mean time, in between time, ain’t we got fun.” NOT!

By January 15th there should be a good snow pack in the UP and people will be riding trails. I’m thinking a lot of jerky and P&J sandwiches can be made in hotel rooms. Suppers I have no idea how that’s going to go. Hopefully the JD membership will share their non restaurant meal experiences and we will all can mold and modify from what others before us have done. Whitmer will extend closures again after January 15th so we should plan for a season without restaurants. It’s tragic for restaurant owners but we can’t support these business if not open. Open and we will COME!

My problem with Whitless, in addition to her being a worthless c*** at heart, is having the same rules for Wayne county (pop density = 2599 people per sq mi) as for Alger county (pop density = 1.9 people per sq mi)...so sure, let's go ruin an entire segment of the economy for nothing...just because we can...

If there's snow I'm coming up right after Christmas. Bringing the entire family. We will order take out from restaurants for all meals. Shop local stores for snack and necessities. Hoping to help out as much as we can

Pretty standard in hotels during COVID with extra cleaning in place.
Some restaurants closed, free breakfasts are to go in a bag (muffin, apple, granola bar) and bars closed in MN and MI..WI may have bars with distancing.
Hotels are cheap though as occupancy is down, stayed in Hilton Tru in MSP last week for $71..sad though as after debt they are losing money.

Are restaurants doing take out in the UP especially in remote areas? Does Whitmer allow take out? Is it profitable for restaurants to serve take out especially in small towns? May not be enough volume for take out to do it. Anybody know?

The long and short of it is that we really don't need these expensive bail out packages that obviously never get to the right people and businesses anyway. We just need to open the economy back up again! That is the best package of relief that we can hope for. Sure it has risks but everything does. I do believe that we will see mass protests starting after Biden is sworn in by the good people of this country who just want to get back to work and open their businesses.

Yes, most are doing take out, some deliver. Sadly, at this point, something is better than nothing. -Mezz

Heck, some are even refusing to shut down. It sure isn't fair to the others who follow the law and are trying to turn the curve on the covid spike in MI. The covid curve has now turned down in MI. I don't know if it was because of Whitmer's restrictions or not. I believe they helped.

Anyway, this lady's a$$ should be in jail.

What COVID spike in Michigan the spike is over in most of the UP. There is only 1 person in the ironwood hospital with COVID. Yes I said 1. And the health department is covering every angle to shut bars and restaurants down. (They said that places can’t even put a tent up for people to sit under.) sorry miss read did see you say numbers are going down.
