165 hp at 8000 feet! Available now in limited quantities. Can you say 2s engine go boom?!!! This should stop talking about snowbuilder and start taking sleds like Snow Central was intended.

So whitedust after being on that 850 for a while now ,would u consider it a point and shoot sled like the Apex or is it easier to steer than the Apex.I have been looking for some lightly used or left overs from last year with no luck so far ,might just wait one more year before i jump ship.

I’m on a 900t 4s Enduro the sled Yamaha should have released to replace the Apex xtx with eps. I’m a 4s guy all the way suits my big mile trail days. I would say eps with aggressive Snowtrackers is the easiest big dog 4s to steer but the 900t is not that difficult and darting is not a problem either with TS skis and carbides. I worked the air shock a lot nice push button rear suspension change on the fly and found adjustable riser all the way forward was most aggressive twisty set up for me. I haven’t adjusted the TS carbide very much but intend to this weekend on first ride. Apex xtx with eps was a great sled in 2011 but old school in every way imo in 2020. Yamahas lack of innovation is very upsetting to me but imo Yamaha is all done except the crying. I just do not see the point of Dual branded sleds. Just buy the AC Thunder Kitty if the procross is your thing. There is no comparison in air ride to Yamaha lumber wagon rear suspension but to each his own. 2s turbo was coming and doo only has it
kick in at altitude so we shall see how it holds together. 2s Turbos are here for mountain sleds been done many years by after market now available for mass market where the big bucks are spent. Powder riders will spend big bucks on sleds and any power edge they can get. 850 turbo will sell out quickly so don’t hesitate if powder is your thing.

This not a slam on Ski-doo but more of a reference to the old sayings "what goes around comes around" or "what's old is new again", I find it funny that we are back to a one-piece hood. I do like one-piece hoods over what we have now.

I wonder if it will take an aftermarket tune to get the turbo max boost in the UP? Lots of powder but not a lot of altitude for the ecu to max out the turbo. I sure would ask that question before buying for UP powder. True mountain riding at altitude you should see boosted 165 hp. UP maybe better with standard 850.

The turbo 850 is useless here in the midwest, or east coast. UNLESS you travel west to the mountains frequently, then it is definitely worth it.

Doo seems to release motors in stages. Wont be long before the 850 turbo is in Freeride and Renegade. I don't believe Doo would invest 3 years of R&D to only put in one sled

You are probably right but as of now if it doesn’t build boost at low elevation it does no good in anything but a high elevation sled. They know the 850 engine can handle 165 hp so 165 at low or high elevation is 165, but put boost to the 850 at low elevation now push 200ish hp will the 850 hold up that is the big question and if it does then you will see it on low elevation sleds. Just my thoughts so don’t think I know anything but to me it makes sense.

Agreed, but some guys have to have it. Even if it sits in the garage all winter, they can tell their buddy's they've got an 850 Turbo. I would expect this engine to transition into trail sleds over the next 2 or 3 years for lower elevations. Do you need one? Probably not but if they build them....somebody is gonna say YES!

If anyone had a proud moment about owning one this site should be the first to know....or is you all just about your superior riding ability in a given situation like a head on with a groomer?.....LOL...if they drop to 10g's with zero add-ons like dealer prep and freight... fugi will give ya'll a heads up on the dealer relationship you need to develop....LOL

I'm not sure why it's important to only add boost at elevation to maintain the same hp. And if they plant it in a flatland sled will it have an unused turbo on board?....or boosted all the way around to make the mountain guys jealous?
