check the bearings on both side of the drive shaft?? I had the speedo hub side bearing go once and it acted that way at low speed.

Pitch is the distance between the driver lugs on the inside of the track that engage with the drive sprockets.
Easiest way to measure is to measure 10 lugs and divide by 10. With tape measure its hard to be accurate just trying to measure one lug to the next. 10 lugs on a 2.52 pitch should measure 25.2 inches or 25 1/4. To check your accuracy, If you multiply the pitch by the total number of drive lugs it should equal the track length.

CORRECT ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Compare dimensions on your new track to old take-out track

perhaps someone switched driver sprockets before you purchased sled

stock is 9-tooth, 2.52" as mentioned before

I was going to agree with belt but since you said it is new the only other thing I can think of is maybe the gears/chain are worn and/or you overtightened the chain tensioner.

my son has told me he has almost a thousand miles on since we changed the belt. he has since changed the belt due to it coming apart. I haven't road it but he said racheting has disappeared. hope to test for myself tomorrow.
