Drugged by my parents......

I don't know if anyone has seen this before, but, I thought I would share this with you all...

Different drug problem......

The other day, someone at a store in our town read that a Methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farmhouse in the adjoining county & asked me a rhetorical question, "Why didn't we have a drug problem when you & I were growing up?"

I replied, I had a drug problem when I was young, I was drug to church on Sunday morning. I was drug to church for weddings & funerals. I was drug to family reunions & community socials no matter what the weather.

I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults. I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the preacher, or if I didn't put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.

I was drug to the Kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profanity. I was drug out to pull weeds in mom's garden & flower beds. I was drug to the homes of family, friends & neighbors to help out some poor soul who had no one to mow their yard, repair a clothesline, or chop some firewood, &, if I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, I would have been drug back to the woodshed.

Those drugs are still in my veins and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say or think to this day. They are stonger than cocaine, crack, heroine or meth, and if today's children had this kind of drug problem America would be a much better place.

God Bless the parents who drugged us.

All I can add, is Amen!!!-Mezz

Obviously, you were seriously abused as a child. Please fill out a complaint form, drop it by the police station where it will be turned over to the child protective services department of your county/state. Your parents will be summoned to court, to answer for those acts of violence...likely will be fined heavily, monitored and could possibly go to jail. It is possible that they could plead out the deal and get a suspended sentence with such a time lapse between the events and now, but they will never ever be able to be left alone with you or your grandkids without supervised visitation from a paid supervisor.

Make sure when you visit them down in the sunny south somewhere, that you tell them that they did a very poor job of raising you kids and that they should fork over at the very least, all of their retirement monies, and perhaps their car/truck since they won't need that anymore because they won’t be able to afford the gas money, and that their fancy funeral you were going to provide for them will now be a simple paupers grave. You should explain to them that you need the extra money because YOUR kids are costing you a fortune, with IPODS and video games costing a bunch and tracking devices for their cell phones rather expensive these days….who couldn’t agree with your demands?</SPAN>
Please record their response and print it back in this forum….I like lively discussions that cross the generations.</SPAN>

anon, really?!? Your statement sums up the reason we have some of the problems in today's society. Parenting today has been undermined by the very mentality that you express in your response. The message that is in the arcticle is not one of abuse, it is one of discipline & being taught right from wrong & knowing there are consequences for your actions. This is what is lacking in many today. BTW, I didn't write the article, I shared it, & I happen to agree with the message it brings.
I'm sorry you don't see it that way.-Mezz

Mezz, I am sure that Anon is just pushing your buttons. What he did in his response was point out exactly the mentality that is undermining society today. Your story told of parents who cared enough to make sure their kids knew right from wrong. His story spoke of shallow minded, idiots who think their parents owe them everything. Your story was awesome and hit the nail right on the head. Thank you for sharing it with us, and you have a FANTASTIC day!

Wait a second, I think we had the same dad!!?? In a different post I said a lot of the problems are caused by the parents and I got slammed. Now its ok? Clearly I needed to be drugged more as I am confused.

Okay. Please tell us this was written from a sarcastic perspective; I was grinning at your writing/critical thinking skills as I read it.

Reminds me of years ago when my two daughters 18 months apart, would usually meet me at the back door and yell, "Daddies home..." and when they didn't do that, and instead would run for their bedrooms, I would look at my wife and say, "hey..what the heck?" She would then confess that she had to use the "wait til your dad gets home...he is going to get the paddle out and smack your butts"... So when they ran crying for their bedrooms, I would know what the "rest of the story was"....we had a ping pong paddle stored in the linen closet, and it would make some TERRIFIC noise on those well insulated diapers and it was all you could do to keep a straight face....but somebody had to do it and my wife was too soft to hand out the disapline...so I got the dirty job. It was either than or they would devour my wife completely. But one little smack would remind them that when Mom says something you have to listen.

i think my dad knew yours

What about be drug to the woodshed after you were drug to the Willow tree for a switch. Try that today and our kids will have us cuffed & stuffed.....

There was no mistaking what the consequences were going to be for my actions when I was young.... ( The strap, the yardstick, the wooden spoon & the bar of soap..... yummy )

As far as the kids calling ( my kids ) eventually they came home with that liberal learning institution garbage that was pumped into their heads at school.... and after they were sassing their MOM one day, I walked up and slapped their faces....
They threatened to call 911 ! I told them go ahead..... there is only one problem with that logic .... IF they ever call the cops to MY house, there will be nothing to save them from the wrath that I will bring upon them inbetween the call & the coppers showing up ! Then I told them " go ahead and TRY ME ".....
That was the end of that problem !

X2 WITH THAT!
And I added, I let them take you to a home where all those were abused and they'll make sure you knew how good you had it at home. AS THEY BEAT THE TAR OUT OF YOU!

I would tell my kids when they said, "You can't hit me" that you have to have a body to have a crime. And I would look out at the river in my front yard. This worked well with the neighbor kids too. Just put that idea in their heads and all of a sudden no problems and I became Mr. Riemersma to the neighborhood kids and not hey Wayne.

We would hear from our kids that they wished they had their friends parents because they didn't care what their kids were up to. And vise versa, their friends wished they had parents like us who actually CARED what ALL the kids were up to, and would discipline when necessary. Go figure?
PS, my son's friends are in their late 20s now, and they still affectingly call my wife mom and give her hugs when they see her.:)
