dry socket tooth

anyone ever have one of these ? I think I may have one . I had a tooth pulled on Tuesday and I don't feel really well I called the dentist and he has me on amoxicillian sp not sure and ever since I have started to take this I don't feel right . I have an appointment with the dentist on Monday and don't want to be a pain in the arse ; but was wondering if anyone had ever had an issue with this? In away i hope no one has it's not pleasant Take care and Thanks and THINK SNOW!!!!!!

yes i have. got into an atv accident few years ago, and had a couple teeth broke off (had to be removed) and couple were ripped entirely out. one would not clot up. and there i was in major pain. dentist even asked if i had brought the ones ripped out with. lol, had atv flip over on me and bars went thru helmet and smack right into mouth.(coming out of a river bank)
you dont want create "suction" in mouth until clotted up real good.
so i feel the pain for ya.

Oh yeah had that with my impacted wisdom teeth at 40. Felt tired & whole lot of pain so had it repacked & slowly healed over. Kept the other 2 wisdom teeth on other side & no problems. They wanted to pull them all & gald I didn't do it. Need all my teeth in my old age.

Yep. When I had my wisdon teeth pulled, one of them had dry sockets. I was miserable! I had to go to the ER, I could not wait for the next day to get to the dentist. It was so long ago I can not remember the pain drug I was givin though. What I do remember is what ever the ER gave me it work well and almost right now!

I had dry socket when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. It was the worst pain I have ever experienced. Went back to the dentist and he put long pieces of cotton with some drug on then to numb the pain and also had to rinse the hole daily with a warm salt water solution.

If you can find them the dentist can reconnect knocked out teeth & teeth can reroot. Everyone should know this get into dentist ASAP & your save teeth. Whole new game from years ago.

Several years ago, I had some wisdom teeth pulled. Long story short, ended up with a couple dry sockets. Spent a week on non-stop pain meds before finally saying enough is enough. Went back to the dentist who applied some medicine, etc, etc. It was world's better almost instantly. Morale of the story - if it still hurts after a couple days (2-3 tops) get back in there and have him take care of it. Believe me, one of my first thoughts after getting the relief was, why did I wait so long. Good luck!

I had it when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, I have never given birth but it was the most pain I have ever been in. It is more common in women, I am not sure why. I was given antibiotics and a whole lot of Vicodin and the cotton deal and in about a week the severe pain went away.

Can you provide some more information? Which tooth did you have extracted and why was it extracted? What symptoms are you feeling now? You say that you don't "feel right". Are you experiancing a lot pain, upset stomach, itching, appearance of a rash. Was this experianced immediately after the extraction or was it a delayed onset? Depending on your symptoms you may need to be seen by the Dentist before monday. Never feel like your a pain in the arse when you are experiancing complications from surgery. It is better to be safe than sorry.

"Dry socket" usually occurs with the lower 3rd molar beginning with onset of new pain on the 3rd to 4th day after extraction and often accompanied by earache. This differs from infection in that while there is increasing pain there is little or no increase in swelling. The treatment for dry socket is irrigation and dressing. Don't try to tough it out - with dry socket the pain will only get worse.

came back from the dentist yesterday doing treatments for the next 3 days with a shot of a bacteria cleaning agent and impacting it with some medicine that looks like a stick of vanilla I have not had an appetite and all I wanted to do was sleep and had a tremendous bacteria infection Thank you all for your concern and all your help and I pray that NO one ever gets this IT"S NASTY one ore treatment to go to and that will be tommorrow YAHOO Also had a foul breath to Thank God for mints lol Take care all of you and THINK SNOW sometime in November for us here in Ohio The fat lady has sung and it ain't DIXIE

Sounds like things are getting better for you. Glad to hear. Unfortunately it never seems to happen fast enough. Good luck with the rest of your recovery.
