Looking to head up to a buddies cabin in the Eagle River area (Three Lakes area actually) and ride out of there and make it north up to copper harbor. Any info on the trails in this area? I know once we get a little ways into michigan we will be good but i havent heard anything about Eagle River area to Michigan. Thanks in advance.

According to the Three Lakes facebook page, the trails in that area dont open until friday the 8th so you may not even be able to ride from where you want to yet.

Right now it all sucks to maybe BC start from there. 3 lakes trails closed including the Brule System that 3 lakes grooms. Trail from ER to 3 lakes closed due to water. No lakes are marked yet ER,Phelps or 3 lakes. Cold might come next week and need a dumping too but snow has been scarce. If you can wait 7-10 days could be much better.

Better chance next weekend for Watersmeet departure. I was on the 2 grade east of Watersmeet earlier this week & sucked big time. Fluff filled rocks & could go slow to get thru but nothing over 35mph..... hazard was kicking up rocks in your tunnel so we exited 2 ASAP. Iron county MI trails not open yet & they groom 107. IR Groomer had been thru on 2 east but not much help with fluff /rock base. I'm not sure what is going on with 107 maybe Mrs Running Bear would know as in her hood? Very good riding in unplowed Frs but trails bad news right now need to get to LES snowbelts for good trails.

we will be up in phelps friday the 15th. Im pretty confident by then we will have enough snow to ride into Michigan and anywhere north/west after hopefullly enough cold and LES to allow grooming by saturday morning. Who knows, maybe a trip to lake of the clouds, or up to houghton and back!! We can only hope!

Southern UP shaping up... Vilas is a crap shoot reroutes & blocked trails without warning then need to u turn or find roads around....no big deal if just riding but big pita if trying to get from point a to point b...most problems is water & clubs not taking groomers thru wet...could change but the way it is today.

Rode back from UP last night trails looked very snirty in Phelps but bunch of sleds at Great Escape at 6ish. Phelps looked like a snow desert after riding deep into UP. Derby weekend +MLK so suspect lots of traffic on trails. Ride them & be careful early season conditions>

Talked to a backpack group (three men and one woman) on Wednesday who left Minocqua on Monday, rode to Mercer, Hurley (overnight), then Silver City to Calumet on Tuesday overnight when I talked to them and they said the trails were fine except Bergland which was wet. Saw them again in Copper Harbor on Wednesday.

Without a doubt the WUP is good to go now ready for prime time in traditional snow belts...been there looking good. Vilas rideable in my view poor to fair catch as catch can. On a rental I would not care ride that snirt all day long.lol

Just took quick 50 mile ride out of Boulder this morning....very thin but is rideable....heavy traffic will take its toll. Base is frozen so that helps.
