I live in central Illinois and I have noticed over the last 4 or 5 years that you often predict measurable snowfalls for our area about 48 hours before nws or similar entities. Simply put, why is that ? Please keep up the good work.

I really cannot speak for as to why others do what they do, but would speculate that there are some guidelines that the NWS have to follow and that my inhibit them from getting too detailed about forecasts that are further out in the period.
