Enclosed Triton trailer not wide enough

I bought a 1994 enclosed Triton trailer earlier this summer. Being ignorant, I had no idea that it would be only 96" on the inside and when you put the lid down it takes away another 1 1/2 or 2".

I just bought another IQ which has a 48" ski stance to go with my other IQ. That makes a total width of 96"!

There are also some hydraulic stands that hold the lid up that take space away but it's not a big deal to take those out.

A friend suggested that I drive one sled in reverse and the other forward to make them fit. I think that will work, but what is the best thing to do for tie downs?

I'm looking for any suggestions and I figured this would be the best place.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Tuck the one sleds ski under the other sleds ski. Any trailer older then 98 is going to have issues with the newer ski stands of the new sleds.

As far as tie downs go; do I hold one sled's skis down with a bar and the other sled with no bar? Or, should I have two bars but with a longer bolt for the second bar?

Your suggestion sounds like a better option, I just need to figure out how to hold them down securely.

long hold down bolts

becareful some bolts will bottom out under the deck ,they come in contact with a cross member before they get tight enuf

you can get the fold down type D-ring that lays flush when not used,...around 10 bucks each....I installed 4 in my 96" wide 4 place so I can balance the load when carrying 3 sleds, the rings are located back so I can strap a sled about 5 feet back from the front lid on either side.

I modified my 1995 triton when I replaced the skin so that I have a clear open 96" floor width.
My front and back door liffts mount to the sidewall framework .....not so easy with a 2 place though.....
I would bite the bullet and sell it and get a newer one,....maybe an ATVer would want it or a vintage guy....

I can't believe that's a 1994. It looks brand new!! You shouldn't have a problem selling it in that condition.
Thanks again and stay in touch!

A shame I didn't measure it before I bought it! Of course, I didn't know that I would be buying another IQ. I'm glad I did though.

If I take the top off it would work perfect, but then I would have to put covers on them...and who wants to do that lol!
