Engine swap Polaris edge

Just burned down my 2001 600 Liberty in an edge chassis. Had 10000 miles on it but took the head off and looks like someone put a grenade in the cylinder. IMPRESSIVE. I was wondering if anyone has tried bloting in a 700 or 800. Obviously I will need a different CDI box, but as far as the carbs, carb boots, exhaust and y pipe, motor mounts, etc. Is it a clean swap or is it not worth the effort? What year engines will work? Thanks

will need different carbs/carb work, and new exhaust can, pipe might be the same. new clutching, etc. it's not too hard, it should bolt down as in it will fit with the motor mounts. Will need new gearing too.

Should be a bolt-in. 2001-2005 should be the same, you'll want to match the CDI/jetting /air-box/pipe combo.

I had a 2001 600 EDGE-X, and a 2002 EDGE-X 800, both snow checked.

I'm a former 1/4 mile N.H.R.A drag race guy, and I prefer fast as a priority, and I can tell you that the 600 was a better trail sled, I noticed the 22 pounds heavier weight of the 800 in the front end.

I.M.O., If it were me, I'd find another 2001-2005 600, it's more reliable and didn't have the crank issues that the 800's did.

most definatly. 600 edges are worth a LOT nowadays due to their reliability. I keep seeing them in the $3000-$3500 range.

I saw a nice Edge X black for sale on CL. $2999 and its a good deal!
