The legendary voice of the Detroit Tigers passed away earlier this evening! Prayers go out to his family! Ernie was 92 years old and was still a huge part of the Tigers and the Detroit area. He was a tireless supporter of the Tigers and the local community!
Ernie was a class act and was part of the Tigers family for over 40 years...I can still remember growing up with Ernie and Paul Harvey as the voices of the Tigers growing up. They were the best in baseball in my humble opinion!

God speed Ernie! Us Tiger's fans will never forget you!

Correction...

Whoops...

Ernie's long time co-announcer was Paul Carey...not Paul Harvey! I got my great voices mixed up there. Sorry abut that Paul!

RIP Ernie!

Me too!! As a long time Tiger fan, he will be missed. He had such an unforgettable voice. He was the first anouncer to be inducted into the Baseball HOF too.

God Bless ya Ernie!!!

Ernie was a wonderful human being with a great outlook on life and death. What a role model for many of us. Had tears just reading all the tributes/stories about him in todays Free Press.
RIP ERNIE, there never will be another person like you in MY lifetime.
