Ever seen one of these?

I've been around small engines all my life and I can't recall ever seeing one of these. A Rotary engine? Almost looks like an Aircraft engine. Hover your cursor over the pic for a larger view.

Yes,I believe that engine was custom built by a guy here in Illinois.It does run also.If it is the same guy he also built a top fuel rail with tracks on it.I know the people involved in it's creation,i wont post his name out of privacy.
