I can tell you stock 2012 f8 to stock 1100t last weekend the f8 were killing the turbos all day short races like 500ft then shut down but still the turbos were geting pounded.think with a longer track things may be closer but this was the first I saw the 2 go head to head

If I were in the running for a new machine this year, it'd be an xf1100 non turbo. Not interested in the extra heft and complications of a turbo, and currently I have an 09 cf8 which I really like, but just think its time to go 4stroke. I do wish that cat would bump the power of the 1100 a bit to maybe 130 and work on a better exhaust tone for the 4 stroke. I guess maybe it is changed, I havn't heard one of the procross 1100s running yet. Maybe now in the racier chassis it will be perceived and marketed differently from in the twin spar chassis. Cats 2stroke fuel/oil consumption stats definetly play a part in my thinking too, if they were a little easier on the oil and gas I'd maybe lean toward 2stroke a little more than I am.

Another point though is that the current 800 ho is 163 or so in power to my 2009 which is the 140hp version. I forgot the power difference is more like 40 hp from 1100 4s to 800 2s and less weight with 2s... I could probably give up 15 ponies to the 1100, but if I were used to riding the ho it'd probably be tough to go that much in that direction.

I've also been wondering if the electric start has been beefed up for 4stroke machines, I don't think any 4s sleds have pull ropes, only electric start, and it seems every 2s sled I know of with elect start is either glitchy, was broken, or is broken. Starters always seem to be out, ring gears chipped and flex drives seem like a bad idea from the get go. I do understand the harsh conditions for an electric motor though... moisture/corrosion/temps, vibration... My girlfriends sabercat has less than 2000 miles on it and sometimes elec start works, othertimes it just makes noise. Haven't been concerned enough about it to fix it because it has a rope to start as well.

In my opinion the non turbo in the new chasis will be a flop, its not a replacement for the 600, to market it as a agressive sled is a mistake. They need to put some big mirrors and windshield on it and call it a cruiser. I'd buy the new 800 or wait I bet cat comes out with a updated 600 soon. Poo and Doo aren't getting rid of their 600's any time soon. Its a huge chunck of the market. The new chassis is too bad a#$ to put a 120 hp 4-stroke in it

I think that your set-up will be important, ie: ( studs , transfer, ski pressure, ect... ) I like all the new machines. IN some places all I see is the hype about the turbo... which has yet to be proven. A lot of posts about TOP speed ect... but in reality, few riders simply drag back n forth in a straight line all day. I think it is time to move to a 4 but for me .... I weighed the " workability " factor into my purchase and just stuck with a 2. The drawbacks for me and a 4 stroker is ... the weight, and my ability to work on the motor. I think the 1100 will do just fine, I take rentals with 600 power plants and lead the " young guns " .... That's a fist full of a workout , I can tell ya ! Sure in the 2-3 mile or more stretch or the deeper stuff, you can't expect to keep up with the bigger platforms but the 4 stroke cat is reliable and well proven.

How fast can they possibly go, the trails and conditions are what factor into being " left behind ". I think an 1100 will do fine and they can only leave you behind on the bigger stretches and that is only a matter of seconds.

Relatively speaking...... that is !

Can't speak for the new frame since I have an 09 CF8 (CatGuy, I believe these are 150 hp), but if you ride significant distances then I'd lean to the 4 Stroke due to the gas mileage. Also you don't get hit for the $18.00 quart of two stroke oil. I sure like the hole shot power of the 800 Suzuki though!
