Fall Colors

I would really like to come up motorcycling this weekend to see some fall colors. Usually it would be a good time, but it appears mother nature has other ideas. Looking at reports and webcams it looks like summer up there. Is there any place for good colors this weekend? I cannot come next weekend.

Bladeguy, usually the first and second week of October for the Yoop.

You're right, Mother Nature has been unusually warm this year, so I would expect the second week would be the best.

Just my 2 cents.

I was just down around Twin Lakes, Toivola. Yeah the colours are slow to come but there are definitely some nice ones around Twin Lakes and the higher elevations of the Keweenaw (Calumet, etc)..already a big change since just Monday.

The Keweenaw is always a little later to turn than the rest of the area primarily due to the big pond. We probably won't see "full" color until the second week of October, nonetheless, the gradual turn is just as nice. Take the ride while the weather is in your favor, you can always make another trip in a few weeks for peak.-Mezz

Depending where you're going, by then the color show is likely to be peaked... especially in the higher terrain areas.
Here in the Huron's color is coming on pretty quick. Took these yesterday around the Wolf Lake area.

The area of the Hurons I was mainly in this weekend had very little color change, however was only a few miles away from the big lake. IMG_20160924_142005919_HDR.jpg

We were up on the north shore at the cabin this weekend and got out and did some hikes and colors were great in areas. You had to get 1 ridge line away from the lake for the colors to be good. Hiked Oberg Mtn, Marshall Mtn, and went up to Lutsen.

I really like the ease of posting pictures now!

@Elf: Awesome pics. I can't wait to explore the north shore and northern Minnesota in general.

I just ended up here (Keweenaw) after growing up mostly in extreme northern Maine (Fort Kent / Allagash area)...so I'm new to everything here (just arrived on August 15th.)

Again, great pics.

We took a ride up to Copper Harbor this past weekend. Colors were nice but not full yet. Still was fun and always enjoy having dinner at Copper Harbor.
