Family Trip

Hi All,

Just looking for some suggestions as to a good "new" spot to take the family on a snowmobile trip.

I have 2 kids (7 & 10) who love to snowmobile. We usually go to the Wild Eagle Lodge in Eagle River or the Waters in Minoqua.

I am looking for a place in the Northwoods or U.P. that would be good for shorter kid rides (80-90 miles/day) and accomodations that would have an indoor pool.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Try the Park View in Twin Lakes. Great location, can take some really nice under 100 mile rides in either direction and they do have a pool (I think it is on the smaller side though)...

If you want to drive a bit further consider MN north shore area. The American inn in Silver Bay has a pool and large water slide. Many great loops you can ride out of there. And you always have the opportunity to see moose or wolves on the trail. Our kids have been riding in that area with us since they were 3 & 5 and love it. Let me know if you want or need any more info.

Not sure where you are located / coming from, but Lake Vermilion in Tower MN is a good place. You can ride in all directions and most places are family friendly. We've stayed at Fortune Bay Casino where they have nice rooms a good price, plus and indoor pool. The casino section is more isolated and won't get in the way of having family fun.

The area offers a good variety of trails and lake riding. Some lake runs can be 30 miles whilst the trails vary from wide logging roads to some tight twisty sections. You run northeast up to Ely, northwest to Crane Lake, southwest to Grand Rapids, or southeast to Babbitt. Just a thought for someplace different.

The Country Village in Ishpeming has the requisits (pool, hottub, short loops) and other conveniences like a bowling alley and show. We have always enjoyed it and on the trail. They have more consistant snow over Eagle River.

I like it over in the Cable Wi. area. The Lakewoods resort lodge has everything you would want, a pool, restaraunt, Wii games in the bar area, and plenty of trails for short or long trips. The lake is even fun to ride around on.
You and your family would love it.

Rustic Manor in ST. Germain has an indoor pool lots of great resturants and plenty of loop trails. You want to stay away from the area on weekends it is a zoo. Best time is early week. Monday thru Thursday. They groom trails every day, when there is snow.

Since already been to Eagle River,WI try Hayward /Cable area. Lakewoods has stick trail on lake the kids would like easy going no interest to me but famlies & newbies like it. Have to be careful bar hoppers like stick trail too.....just so you know but should be fine.

AmericInn Ironwood is right on trail #2

Ironwood would be a good place. Small trips to the Porcupine Mountains or around Lake Gogebic on the trails (not the lake) Place's to stop and warm up/eat. And after the day the AmericInn has a hot tub and a large pool. And there is a great restaurant 50 feet in front of the inn called the Breakwater. heres a link to the inn. http://www.americinn.com/hotels/MI/Ironwood?s_kwcid=googlemapsai&chebs=ai_gm.......AND its only 1 hour north of Minocqua with free breakfast!

My first thought was Hayward/Cable as well with Lakewoods as the base camp. Go during the week because on the weekends the place is crazy with sleds and sled jockeys.

Munising/Wetmore MI. is a good spot as well plenty of hotels with pools. I like the comfort inn myself. Plenty of trails "short and long loops" and sights to see with or without the family. Plenty of resturants as well.
