I don't know about all that. But if drinking beer will bring on winter, I'm all for it. Anyone else want one? I'm sure its five somewhere.

I'll tip one or more of those with ya Elkhorn! Good beer!

I'm glad someone got it and didn't think I was just a lush. New Glarus beer is one of the many awesome reasons to live in Wisconsin.:D
Now to get back on topic. Whats the status on the woolly Caterpillars?;)

I like it!

The squirrels do seem like they’re eating a lot more in my area but it reminds me of the old wood gathering joke. I think they are seeing how much “trip beer” I’m stockpiling and they figure it’s going to be a snowy winter.</SPAN></SPAN>

Squirrels digging holes in lawn burying nuts everywhere I'm thinking never seen this before. Tell my wife & she says yep threw that 5lb bag of peanuts in the yard that you had to buy at Menards. I found out 5lbs of peanuts is a whloe lot of peanuts to eat.:)

I got 2 bird feeders right outside my kitchen window and the squirrels, for some reason this year, decided they wanted to use them as their personal food supply. They chewed through the string that holds them up and they both went crashing to the ground and broke into several pieces. The new ones I bought at Menards have a metal cable in place of the string. Well they sure tried to get them down with no luck. Then one morning here is a squirrel actually tapping on my kitchen window almost as if he saying to me "WTH" Nature is strange at times.

Years ago I had a gray squirrel start to be agressive with the kids barking at them from deck railing tearing up bird feeders so I went out to chase him away & he came at me barking. I let him do it for a couple of days see if he would calm down. Finally figured not good to let this guy mate too mean so Mr. 22 put an end to his reign of terror. Lots of squirrels came after him but none mean or agressive & hope to never have a squirrel like that again. I don't hunt anymore just kill pests when I have too & believe if you kill it you should eat it. Don't want to sound gross but broiled squirrel pretty good with seasonings.:)

I have our rat terrier trained pretty good. When I see the squirrel chowin' down from the bird feeder, all I gotta do is say "squirrel". She tears out through the doggie door and chases him away. Squirrels can go through a chain link fence like it ain't even there. Pretty funny. I hope she never catches the little ****! Gotta admit, I'd sit and watch him eat though. They are pretty resourceful and fun to watch.:D

The gray squirrels don't bother me so much, its those little red squirrels (Chipmonks) that I'd like to exterminate. The gray's will sit and eat what they can, and move on. The reds fill their cheeks, run off and stash it (I'm sure they never find it all again) and keep coming back for more. I used to have a feeder that would hold a 50lb bag, and they would empty it in about 3 days until I solved that little problem with a couple 4" dryer vent pipes. No more squirrel hoarding.

Anyone else notice an unusually large population of black (fat) squirrels? I don't know if it means anything, but I'm gona run with it meaning exceptionally cold and snowy.

Mother nature changed their fur color to keep them warmer through the tough winter ahead! :D

Yep, I have 3 of them here at the house, they love to hang upside down and get at the suet feeder. I like your thinking!
