Feedback on R & R 12ft ARC Trailer

So I am looking at the 12ft ARC trailer. Price is about $4300 OTD with track mats, ski guards, two fuel doors, interior lights, D rings, radial tires, etc.

I know a lot of guys have complained about the RnR trailers, but I couldn't see any advantages to the more expensive triton. I actually preferred the RnR as it has the beaver tail rear end. I looked at the inline trailers as well, but couldn't justify the extra cost of an all aluminum one (several were steel framed) vs. the ARC hybrid

Before I lay down the cash, please let me know if I'm missing something.

Thanks
Doug

I'm sure it is a nice trailer and if you are comfortable with it, than do it. I prefer the inline for visibility while towing, ease of loading and unloading, and if I am not able to go, my wife has no problem towing our Stealth. That alone was worth the extra $$ to me. When it gets right down to it, any covered trailer is good to have to keep our toys protected. Good luck in your decision.

I have one, bought it new in 2014 direct from the factory, first issue was both LED Brake lights , the mounting screw broke off, easy fix. Second issue was with the optional side door, it's a Mother F@#$% to get open from the outside due to the latch is hard to grab. Had to use a screwdriver to pry it open a few times

Then last spring I noticed the bottom hinge was broken on the side door, I called and was told they had issues with those hinges and they could send me 3 new ones or I could bring it back to have them replaced, I opted to have them send me the three hinges as I didn't feel like driving 150 miles and wait for them to fix it. I also asked for an extra handle the same as they put on the front access door and rear door as I'm going to install it on the side door this should make it easier to open I hope.

Other than that the trailer is great.

I'm in the process of insulating putting plywood up the sides to put up my pitpal oil holder and some hooks for spare coat, belts , slides etc.

DaWolf, I'm not that far if you want to check my trailer out.

Hi, I purchased an R&R ARC 12' trailer. I have owned it for two seasons now and have not had a single problem with the trailer (the model I purchased does not have the side door option). The only thing I will note is that the trailer is tall and catches a lot of wind (compared to an in-line or clam shell) I have pulled it with a Chevy 2500 (Gas engine) and returned 8 MPG and a new Ford F 250 (Diesel) returned about 12 MPG. I have not pulled it with anything smaller than a 3/4 ton so I do not know how much it would affect a smaller vehicle's mileage.

I pull with my 04 F150 and once I'm rolling it's not bad at all, even use overdrive, yes it catches alot of wind and I can tell it's back their compared to my old 10 ft R&R Clam shell.

Didn't notice any difference amount of gas as that trailer between the both. Takes a tank and 1/2 to get to the WI/ MI border.

On my buddy's Chevy Duramax 3500 Dually he usally gets 12.1 , pulling my trailer he gets 12.0 and can't even notice it's back their.

A BIG thanks to everyone for their input. I pick it up Saturday. I'll give you all a report once I've had some time with it.
Hopefully it will make many trips up north and to local trails this winter. I'm going with the Farmers Almanac outlook (fingers crossed)

Thanks again,
Doug

I ordered a sno pro 12 foot with side door all ski runners and track mats installed alloy wheels and a extra axel . $4870.00
the lead time for the extra axil was only 4 weeks. yeah u don't need 2 axel for a 2 place but sure will be nice if I get a blowout at night in a storm .
IMHO a no brainer at only $770 bucks

more or less this with a extra axil

I bought a 25' R&R inline with all the bells and whistles. It is 1 year old. As mentioned I also have the lower side door hinge broken. Also several missing or rusted screws holding diamond plate. Crawled underneath it today. None of the wires are protected at rub points beyond the coating on the wire. For $11,000 one would expect an engine with it. R&R is a huge rip off

Ezra I would be interested in seeing pictures when you get your trailer of the second axle on how they did it
That would be an awesome addition to any hybrid trailer

yeah it has been on my mind for around 3 yrs. a fellow JD guy I met at a trail head on the north shore had a twin axel on a clam . he moved one up ad added 1 from a trailer with a busted frame .
I assume it is prob a bit of a pain to move by hand .it could burn tires if not put together straight .it could be jerky cranking a sharp u turn. all things I am willing to accept for what I believe will be a better set up for long highspeed runs west . I think not sure but think it may stay more planted in those high speed winds on greasy passes .
man like 3 yrs ago my triton was at a 20 deg angel to the truck for a few over 10 second stints in traffic full of big rigs going over the pass on 80 just outside Laramie . yeah that will make your starfish pucker up real tight.
think that was about the only time I wished I had 2 yamahas in that trailer

I always love reading your descriptions of things. Thanks for the laugh while I'm drinking my coffee this morning!

Thought you learned from your last experience? 11k?, I wouldn't buy year old Triton for that.

As far as the hinge, the rv style hinges are known for that. Same supplier for a lot of trailer brands.
Take and cut the top spacer out. My hinge immediately freed up, plus now room to get some lube on the pin. Putting mine back in this weekend.

I've put about 300 miles on the RnR since purchasing it. Mostly highway and interstate running 75 mph picking up sleds and dropping off other toys at storage. So far so good. I forget its back there most of the time and while its a bit of a sail in crosswinds, its no worse than clamshells I've towed in my opinion. I can tell the locks on the fuel door and front door are going to be an issue with freeze ups . I'll probably replace them with something else. I will also probably reinforce the electrical wires at rub points as they don't seem to have any protection at all.

Looks good, tows well, I like it so far. The folks at R and P Carriages in Seneca were real good to deal with as well.

I came close to buying a similar trailer last year (fewer options). I couldn't convince myself to do it after finding some nice photos an owner took. One of them showed the axle attachment. It looked like one good bump would tear the axle right off. It is possible there was some additional mounting that was not visible but I do not believe that was the case.

RnR is good about sending you replacement parts as yours tend to fail. Just got my 3 new door hinges from them today. Had to drill out the rivets and locate some screws for the hinges in my junk drawer.
