I forgot about that one. A friend of mine is an IE. More business oriented than the other engineering disciplines. He's involved with QC/QA of assembly lines. Got his BS in IE twenty years ago from Iowa State. Got his MBA this year. Good luck.

That's basically the path I'm looking at. I'm one of those people who are all about quality and making things are perfect which is why I like it. Do you know where he is working at?

That is the wave of the future. I keep seeing big dollars going into that because the lines move product cheaper than people. It is a cold hard reality. It is funny how we go through cycles with business design. I worked for a company in the 90s that had been using AGVs to move product for over 20 years at the time. Throw in a little economic downturn with ageing AGV equipment, and the machines are replaced by people again.

Stay close to your roots so you can adapt to the next change.

He worked at Ergotron for many years in the Twin Cities, but recently moved to St. Louis. Flu to China a lot while at Ergotron. I can look up where he's at now, don't remember it off the top of my head. (Might be with Emerson.)

Since the program is new at Minnesota, is the program accredited? If it is not accredited, the degree won't be as valuable to employers (their just funny that way). (Just something to verify before you commit. Iowa State's is accredited.)

Here should be the plan - Go to Dinkytown, meet hot co-ed, ask if her if she is from the area, ask if her dad has nice snowmobile. Rinse and repeat until you find right match

I just emailed the school to find out because I couldn't find any info about it online. They said that their getting people job offers during their sophomore year because there is so much demand for this new field, which makes me even more excited.

Thanks for the advice TL. My son is a Junior in HS this year, and must narrow down a field in engineering to study. Good luck to you.

Gotta use the typical "I play guitar and can sing and I'm a white guy" even though I drum and can't sing to get those hotties. Thanks hope to get some good snow in the S wis. and N IL area so that I can have a good last year of home riding.
