First impressions of your new ride.

I thought I would start this thread for all the new or new to you sled owners. Did you get a chance to try them out yet and what did you think? Wifey and I trailered up to Crystal Falls and ran across and down to Lando on our new Viper LTX DX's. All I can say is I'm very impressed with the sleds. We did not go into the twisties as this was all rail bed today, but it was a great first ride. We put on a total of 138 miles on mostly perfect groomed trails. It did get somewhat rough from 107 to Watersmeet due to higher trafic but the sleds just soaked up those bumps beautifully. The throttle response was excellent and got even better after about 100 miles. Never pinned it but did bring it up to about 70 a couple times. I did adjust the throttle and brake locations for the wife a couple times until she felt comfortable with it. As we were sitting in the Rusty in Lando she even said she thinks she likes this sled better than her 11 Rush LX. I was very happy to hear that, cause as you all know, "a happy wife means a happy life". We made it back to the trailer with 138 miles and no gas stops. The low fuel light came on about 10 miles from the Falls, but we didn't gas up yet to check the mileage. The wife did find out that she has to hold on tight when she starts out as she almost fell off a couple times.....sled has lots of low end torque, lol. I just love the way that 4 stroke sounds, which to me makes it even more fun to drive. Now it's off to Savannah GA for the week, then back up to the Yoop next week for more fun. Hope the weather holds up.

199.5 miles on mine, love everything about it even got the best mileage out of a 600 CFI4 and xfire 600. Only thing I dislike of course is the throttle block I broke :)

Got a chance this weekend to do a side by side comparison of my wife’s 2015 800 HO Switchback Axys against my 2014 800 Switchback Pro R. No miles on the Axys and 2600 miles on the Pro R. We rode about 200 miles, 95% lakes and 5% trails in northern MN. I am happy to report neither sled burned down. The check engine light came on briefly several times on the AXYS, not sure what that was about. It seemed to come on within 4 miles of when the engine was cold.

Speed goes to the Axys about the same top end but faster out of the hole. It uses more oil, it was 140 miles to the quart, compared to 160 miles on the Pro R. It uses less gas, the Pro R averaged 12.8 the Axys averaged 15.2. Wind protection goes hands down to the Axys. The headlight is awesome, if your riding with a group there is not doubt who is on the Axys. Handling is subjective, I liked my 2014 better, but I am used to it. Neither sled has much for darting with the stock carbide setup. The suspension will need to be dialed in when it gets more miles. It is definitely smoother running and is quieter. Spare belts are not cheap $214.00.

The AXYS 800 is in ECU break-in mode for the 1st 18 hours.
The oil usage is turned up and the rpms are limited to 7800.
I think the rpms start going up after a couple hour run time.

If it is as fast as the 2014 at this point it will be lights out ahead once you get it broke-in and running peak 8400 rpms.

Thanks for the report.
I am going to try and get up to ride this week.

I think everybody was up in the UP breaking in new sleds. I have never seen so many new sleds out in the woods. I was very impressed with my buds 15,800 ETEC. I took it for a rip down 107. It's still in limp mode with 300 miles. I finally rode a Ski Doo I liked.

I put about 175 miles all on the grades with the new 15 Renegade 800 Etec. I can say that I am really enjoying it so far. I would like to have gotten on some twisty trails but they were not in very good shape. At speed the front end seems more stable and the Rmotion is very smooth. I cant wait for the break in to be over so I can see what it will doo.

Put 200 miles on my 15 600 Renegade X this past Friday in the Kenton, Sidnaw, Rousseau area. Still the same great ride from the R motion regardless of the trail, some improvement in the front as compared to my old 14 gade. On the way home I noticed the Polaris Demo trailer at Headwaters. Went back Saturday for a demo ride, I had previously had a 2010 Rush, 2011Rush, & a 2012 Rush (600's). We rode E & N from Headwaters. (In 2013 I switched to yellow). The 600 Ax Switchback I rode was very stable in the chop on the grade, no darting, the rear sucking up the bumps very well. A very confidence inspiring feeling at speed in the small bumps on the trail. We then turned N. 3 to 150 to 107S. I was most impressed in the twistys, on the Rush'es that I owned, it took body English to get them to turn, usually fighting inside ski lift. Not so with the Ax, with proper throttle control, this thing rails the corners with hardly any ski lift. The difference is night & day between the Ax & the old Rush chassis. If you own/ride this sled & are not smiling, maybe consider golf. I'll ride what I have this year, next year------???
