They dont open until the December 1st, but then again the speed limit is also 55mph and most of us brake that law daily on the way to work! I wouldn't advise it though...Yoopers take there rifle whitetail season pretty serious and you dont want to make a guy holding a rifle mad at you!!

That trail is the Bill Nichols trail, multi use trail, open all year. BUT, it is firearm deer hunting season right now up there, and I suppose those two thought it was close enough to dark to take a little spin, and not get shot. LOL. I know I wouldn't risk it.

Skylar is right. It is a multi-use trail there and is thus open all year to motorized recreation. It is also main firearm deer season, so the only time you can be in the woods on ANY motorized vehicle is from sunset to sunrise and between the hours of 11 am and 2 pm.

I seriously doubt that any hunter up here would shoot you. I know of no hunter that gets angry about a sled or ATV out in the woods when it can be legally, but let's have some respect and courtesy for the hunters. They only ask for 2 weeks out of the whole year to keep the woods quiet so they can hunt. Only 4 more days then it's our season for the next 4 months.

Welcome back Chad! Get a sunburn?

We don't have nearly as much snow in Ishpeming. I'm probably going to take out the old XLT and go mark some stuff - mainly areas with big landing transitions. Takes some work to not get hurt when you freeride ski with snowmobile assist!

I took a ride from Calumet to the Phoenix area today and saw at least a dozen sleds. I would have to say for me (born and raised here) it is a tad early still. There is almost 2 ft down up north but there is a lack of base. That will come with time. Plus I wouldn't want my new F4 to be confused with antlers. In the 80's there was never any issue with hunters/sledders. If there was snow we use to go. I guess times have changed.

Ok I give, what's the deal with the hours "between 11am and 2pm"
Is that when the deer take a nap and hunters go in for lunch?

I bet he is grumpy because of his burn... and the fact that he is back.

Not grumpy today...yesterday was questionable! No sunburn and the tan is fading fast. Might be time to move to a different island and start renting wave runners!!! I could be the one coming to Da Yoop for a week vacation during the winter to crack up rental sleds then jet back to me island mon! Ahh it's always nice to be back though...there's no place like home...I think :)

I believe that time was put in for hunters to be able to use a motorized vehicle to get to and from their hunting spot/camp or to haul a kill out of the woods.

The deer are not unionized up here... At least not yet, but the AFL/CIO sure has been hounding them to organize.
