Am thinking about getting a new one of these for my wife. I drove a demo with about 4000 miles on it and it showed it was getting about 16.4 mpg. Dealer says it will climb up to the low 20s with a few more miles on it. Anybody care to comment on this or any other pluses or minuses of the Edge? Thanks.

I have 09 Edge Limited with about 20,000 miles. I average 21 mpg on the highway cruising between 75 and 80. I think they are rated at 18 mpg in the city, and that is what I usually get. Overall I really like it, no complaints. It is a cross over so it is built on a car frame so the ride is really smooth. Ride and Handling are great and I haven’t had any problems so far. Plenty or room for cargo and the back row of seats fold down for even more space. Back seat is roomy and can easily fit 3 adults...

I have an 07 Edge awd,tow package, that has 35,000 miles. I get about 21-22 on average, also. I have black interior; make sure if you get a light color interior that you test drive it on a bright sunny day. The glare can be bad with the lighter colors. I have no complaints, am actually looking at trading mine off this coming summer or fall for a new one.

It has a 460 cubic inch (7500cc) V8, weighs 25,000 pounds, and will pull anything (including a house).

Here come the Jap lovers!

I have driven and Edge for and extended length of time. The motor is solid and quick. The rear seats fold flat without moving headrests. I can probably get you a deal on one for you if you are are in my area.

The 3.5 is based heavily off the old 3.0 and both have been quite solid in my experience. It is certainly not lacking in power. Overall the quality of Ford is up a lot; their prices have raised accordingly; but I get D plan for working for them.

I drove an 2008 Edge from Michigan to Texas and back. The mileage on the way down was 23.2 fully loaded and 24.6 on the way back with the vehicle empty. All wheel drive will lower your mileage. It's a great road vehicle. You sit high enough to get a good view of the road ahead. If this sounds like a Ford person, I am. If you are buying new, I always offer Ford's Friends and Family discount. Email me if interested.

I own a Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring AWD, which shares the same platform as the Edge. I averaged around 22 mpg while heading up to haydays this year. I bought it in July so I have not had a chance to tow with it yet. I actually really like the car alot. It wasn't my first choice as it kinda has that soccer mom thing going on with it(a Ski-Doo sticker in the back window now makes me feel better about that) but I got a smokin deal from a family member so I pulled the trigger. I think it kinda depends on what your wife will be using it for..daily commuter?..running kids around? etc..
