Ford V-6 Turbo Eco Boost gas engine

Doesn't Chevy get 21 mpgs with their old-fashioned push-rod V8? If the turbo eco-boost only gets 22, why is this such a big deal? I assume I'm missing something....

All else being equal, I'd prefer Ford over Government Motors, but I don't understand the hype around this new eco engine.

Buy one and let us know.LOL I think maybe their 2wd are but 4wd are rated at 19mpg.

TORQUE!! That's why. I mean equipped right it can out tow there v-8. Many are comparing it to diesels.
As far as mpg, it can't be any worse than my 2001 chevy. I'am sure it's not too good when you get your foot into the turbos though.

So it's got more significantly more towing power than the V8's and the real-world gas mileage is quite a bit better. Makes sense. I assumed they were similar in both, so I didn't understand the hype, since the turbo6 costs more and doesn't yet have the long-term track record of the V8s.

In a standing drag race the Ford EcoBoost will smoke my Chev with the 5.3 gas by about 7 lengths in a quarter mile. It isn't even a race. If we were each towing a loaded 4 place it would even be worse. If anyone cares. As far as gas mileage I had a '77 chev half ton that got just as good or bad fuel mileage than my 30 year newer chev. Kind of makes a person scratch his head a little.

If two turbo's are the way of the future, then why did Ford remove one on their 2012 diesels? Must be something in the $$ crunch? Read 17 pages on this new Echo engine by Ford. Sounds like they want to make a statement to the World that they make the top bullit! Time will tell: I love my 5.4 for pulling, gas mileage. Just came back from the Fairlane Nats.[Springfield Illinois] pulling a 67 FL on a open trailer. About 4600#'s. Our loaded 2010 Expedition averaged 14.4 MPG with air cond. running. There's probably gassers out there that could do better but for my towing enjoyment the 5.4 is tits.

Ford was using egr to meet emissions now they are using scr and don't need to move as much air to achieve the same results. SCR is the way of the future!!
