Frozen trailer doors

With the recent rain and somewhat below freezing temps, I had some issues with my Legend inline trailer. The front ramp door was frozen shut, when I pulled on the plastic handle, it came off the aluminum door. It was apparently glued on. What type of glue should I use to reattached it? Also, the weather stripping pulled loose. What type of glue should I use to reattach the weather stripping to the aluminum frame. Lastly, is there anything I can spray on the doors to keep them from freezing? I was thinking WD40 may work.

Spray the door edge and seal with silicone spray in the fall and should be good. I would not use WD40, attracts dirt....my .02

Wait till spring for the weatherstripping. Don't remember what I used, but it didn't work well in the cold. I remember I got it from a building supply. It's been 4 years now and all is well.

Welcome to the world of junk from LEGEND TRAILERS. Had many of the same issues including broken light up side door handle, mis-adjusted drop door closers and crooked front door which they needed to re-weld straight.
Also, when they sell a trailer for snowmobile use, can they not figure out that you need the little flip down extensions on the bottom of the door to avoid a head over the bar experience? Top of the line trailer, my butt. JUNK.
Gonna look at a Triton next time.

FYI, the door flaps are optional and were $58 each. If you wanted them, you should have ordered them or had dealer install them. I love my Legend Snow. Tows awesome and is well built. Cant blame frozen doors on them when it rains and drops below 20 degrees.

After using crow bars and broom handles to get my trailer open after an ice storm, yes, use silicon spray on weather stripping. I use it to prevent my clam from freezing up. Get it on sale at Fleet Farm for $2.58 or so a can.

Good tip on the silicone spray....will do this summer.

NEO has a great single point latch system and flip down ramp apron that doesn't use a lousy piano hinge.

Whut, ya din't try a blowtorch? Yeah, that'd work!

Or maybe a couple of pounds of TNT, or C4, or you could plan ahead and pre-load the trailer with a few bags of ANFO sitting by the rear hatch, with a fuze at an access port?

(Why does this sound like a "Mythbusters" episode?

I did have a torch with me but that was inside the trailer...DOH! Using a torch to free up a clam could bring a whole new level of problems.:witless:

I'd pre drill holes into the tube framing when re-attaching your handle. If it's plastic go buy a metal one. Get self tapping stainless screws (to avoid electrolisis) that are one size larger than the holes you drilled. I'd go with 3/4" screws.

X2 Also in the Winter before trips we spray antifreeze/water solution along the whole door to prevent any door freezes.
