Does anyone ever change there fuel filter? I have the sled all ready for the winter, and the only other pre-maintence issue I can think of is to put on a new fuel filter. Is it even necessary if there is no problems?

I always figure the filters on motorcycles are good for at least 30k Mi so I have never bothered.I don't even know if my xfire has a filter

One load of badly contaminated gas can plug the filter and prevent fuel flowing at the proper amount. If you deprive the sled of enough fuel, it can definitely harm the engine.

I don't think that there is a sled out there than does NOT have a filter. Many are in the tank at the pickup tube.

Most can be cleaned and re-used.

Its cheap maintenance just to put a new one on. Theres no way I would ever go 30K on a fuel filter on anything! wow

Wow thats just insane. Nothing against you but the factorys do detailed tests on these parts in various conditions and mileages and tell you in your manual what the recomended intervals should be. That is for optimum operating performance levels. Anything beyond that is still operable conditions but thats about it. I bet if you took that filter and cut it open you would find it almost clogged with particles. I always replace all filters when recommended just for at least peace of mind.

so I have a new fuel filter, but have never changed one out. in a Ski Doo, does this little filter go inside a larger metal housing that I see under the dash? Just pull the hose off and open that housing and replace? anything else?

I just replaced my REV fuel filter. On the carb sleds its inside the gas tank. (The SDI is differnt.) It wasnt dirty at all but the screen was damaged from bouncing around inside the tank. The part number is 414872100.

I recently bought a used sled and the guy gave me a new in-line fuel filter and one for inside the tank. Wanted to know how do you get to the one inside the tank? I put my fingers inside the tank but could not feel any lines to grab a hold of? Thanks in advance!!

Drain the tank, lift the front of the sled up, open the right side panel, pull the fuel pickup line and rubber grommet out of the tank. Change filter and reinstall.
