Fuel in 4 strokes, 100% gas or mix?

ethanol produces about 40% less energy (BTU) that reg gas so at 10% eth should see about 4% less fuel mileage if the EFI can sense the difference -if carb then sled should run 4% lean

No difference in mpg, or performance on my 900ace between E 87, or 91 no ethanol. My older SDI Doos do get somewhat less mpg on less than 91.

It says 91 only on the gas cap on my Sidewinder. So that is what I put in it. Duh.

It is an arctic cat with a yamaha motor. Or have you not been paying attention? Yamaha doesn't build snowmobiles anymore. When they used to they we're ill handling heavy pieces of poo. With bad skis. A 2002 Indy 500 will destroy an Apex or Vector on the tight trails of NW wisc.

It would not even take a mile. And when you got to the inevitable lake the Indy would get across it at 95 while the Apex would really only go about 105. Yamaha has screwed the Yamaha faithful for a decade. Yes they are dependable. Usually. But they are junk. Not competitive. Even the Sidewinder is a slow pig in stock form. The beauty of the Sidewinder is that it only takes 3 grand to take it to 270 horse. And then it will still get beat through the tight trails of NW Wisc by a 2002 Indy 500. With no studs. Been there. Done that. Weight and high center of gravity are insurmountable. Physics. Einsteins.

Really glad to hear you whoooped up on your 80 YO aunty and her Yamaha 4 stroke....LOL...Your Indy 500 will whoop up on most of the modern trail sleds these days.
Once you start riding the new sleds with your legs below you insted of in front of you, it is hard to go backwards to the old stuff. The Apex even feels that way which also makes it really fast in the twisties for what it is. Power steering is a stroke a einstein like genius. All sleds would benefit from it on those wet concrete snow days.
AND it will run on almost anything gas wise. No worries at some remote station in the early season.

What are ya'all using for fuel in your 4-strokes? I am running Yamaha motors and have been using 100% gas, 92 or 93 octane but have been thinking, if I know I will be going through the fuel within the day or so, probably could run the 87 and be fine. If will be sitting over the summer, the go 100% gas. Thoughts?

What does the manufacturer call for in these sleds? I'd think you could search for appropriate fuel spec'ed out for each motor if not clearly marked on the sled itself.

Does someone need a hug? This went from a fuel question to all out assault. Anyone looking for a sidewinder? I think there will be one available for sale soon. Enjoy that 2002 Indy 500. Remember
