Just a bit of information for those of you out there that aren't aware of this but 2018 will be the last year of production for the Yamaha Apex. I figured it would be 2017 but they decided to product it 1 more year seeing as it's their 50th Anniversary. Anyone of you out there that might be wanting one of these you should get one snow checked! Thanks, Kip

I'm good Tom my 2012 Apex XTX is in great shape at 11,000 miles. Kip just rebuilt my shocks so I'm good to go until something else rocks my world. The Yamaha 50th colors look a lot like the 2008 40th colors. I just reviewed all OEMs 2018 releases and not much going on...ACs 800 prolly the most exciting new release but I'm not a 2s user.

I am certain that the Apex will go down in the snowmobile history books as one of the best sleds ever produced. I know a lot of people like to jump on the new product bandwagon, but for me, I feel that the last year or two of a model line are the best in terms of reliability and refinements. Whoever buys a 2018 Apex will get a BA trail king!

No Gary they won't be:) It keeps coming up and it's actually funny:) Weird where these threads go. This is about the 2018 Apex and the last year of it's production, not whether or not Yamaha will be building sleds in the future, but guess what they will be in da biz of snowmobile sales:)

attack_06, I don't know what's going to replace it. My guess for now is the Sidewinder. I think if Yamaha is profitable and continues to pick up market share then they will ride it out with Cat for a bit. They're also now selling engines to Cat for their new dirt product and to Ariens for their commercial mowing line. I'm told that while selling their engines to the competition is a fine line, it improves their bottom line for building new product. I want something tru blue as much as any guy but the bottom line is they have to be profitable. The VK540 is all Yamaha and while it doesn't appeal to us much it does to the thousands of customers in Alaska, Europe, and Russia. The VK PRO is a huge hit over there. Just like any other company they have to follow the money. Yamaha obviously doesn't get caught up in being #1. They just want to be profitable. I know it's not the best answer right now but it's all I've got!

Viper to SW seems like a huge 70HP jump and a tweener sled at 160ish with EPS would get my attention.

Over the past 3 months of reading your posts, I get the impression that you would like to see EPS on the yamacats....I guess I can't blame you, but imo, the cat pro-cross chassis has much lighter steering than any pre- EPS Yamaha 4 stroke.

Not sure what your financial situation is, but if you have the $$, do yourself a favor and get out of the rut your apex has you in and buy an 800 2 stroke and set it up as yur own. By all means keep the Apex, but give yourself another choice from day to day.
I think you will be surprised which sled you tend to hop on more often than not.
