gas in cylinder

I have a 02 Polaris 600 with the liberty motor and went through the carbs cuz it wasn't running the best. now it runs and idles great but now it lets gas flow into the left cylinder overnight. it actually drips out of the exhaust y pipe connection when you try to start it. I took it back apart to make sure the float isn't sticking and it all looks good. anyone have any suggestions what to look for?

Float is obviously sticking, assuming you didn't bend the tab so pull it apart again. Be sure there isn't any sticking of the valve...rubber tips tend to hang up as they get older and won't seal correctly. Replace the valve with new stuff.

You could also just put a shut-off on the fuel line and use it every time you shut it down.

you might check and make sure the float is not cracked (could be filled with gas) had this happened to me.

That sled should already have one, use it until you get it fixed. You can go the rest of the season if you dilegently shut the gas off when you stop, and back on when you go. Won't cause any issues. Just don't forget to turn it back on when you go riding, those extra 7-10 pulls to reprime it are a treat!

Needle and seat assembly are shot pony up $70 for the float and the other sides not far behind.

I believe there is a oring under the seat fitting that could be bad or damaged. When that oring leaks it acts like a bad needle and seat.I had the same problem once and pulled my hair out tring to find it.

I replaced the float for that side. I had extra set of carbs from a past motor out of same sled. all seems good now. only thing I can think is that I got carb cleaner on the o ring. I heard that will wreck the rubber. thanks

I just replaced the crank seals on 2 600's. Now after sitting over night or for a few days the motor on both of them has fuel locked at different times, and you have to remove the plugs and clear out the gas to get it started or be able to pull the cord for that matter. Question is would gas sitting in the bottom of the case cause the crank seals to fail? Additionally, by tightening up the bottom of the case we are finding both sleds to apparently having bad floats. It just seems crazy both sleds failed the same day and both getting fuel in the cylinders.
1 sled is a 2002 600XC with 8000 + miles the other a 2004 600XC with around 5000 miles.
Is there anything else we should be looking at?

found out the hard way that trying to pull over the sled with gas in cylinders can lead to big problems. my son threw a rod through the crank case. im assuming the rod bent when trying to start. it was the same cylinder that filled with gas. just got a totally rebuilt motor and am keeping the gas shut off till end of season when I can get new O-rings on bottom of float.

that is more than likely what happened, but also keep in mind that too much fuel dilutes oil/lube and washes it away=so certain parts may not get proper lube like bearings. just didn't want it to happen to you again!!
