I think wholesale gas was at $3.46 on Saturday morning, now it is at $3.12. Will gas fall as fast as it went up? I sure hope so.

Gas at the pumps always jumps nickels and dimes at a time, and only drops pennies at a time. Takes a long time to get back to reasonable prices.

Skylar, it won't fall as fast (Never does) but it's already dropped a dime in Minnesota today.

A few days ago on the news they reported that in 2008 gas topped out at 405.9 when crude was at 147 a barrel, now in 2011 we went up to 408.9 and crude was at 112 a barrel. What gives? I think it's another case of big oil corporate greed.........and they still get tax breaks!!! I think I need another beer......

The 2 stations that I drove by going to work were 4.12, then going home they were 4.07, so they do sometimes drop more that a couple of cents.

But will agree that reasonable won't happen for a while

The Presidential Limo, "The Beast".

As a candidate, Barack Obama promoted hybrid cars.

Now his "ride" is the Mother of All Hybrids -- part car, part truck and part tank.

The new "Cadillac One", (price estimated at around US$4.2 billion) code named "Stagecoach but more commonly referred to by it's nickname, "The Beast", is believed to weigh between 7 and 8 tons, and its 6.5 liter diesel engine sips fuel at the miserly rate of 8 miles per gallon. (Not to mention the 40+ other vehicles that make up the Presidential motorcade.)[FONT=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica][FONT=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica] :)

Bring on CNG/LPG.....

Here is the scoop on converting your ride now....note that in Utah, they are way out front in this with CNG stations spread out, and companies that take your car/truck and convert it over to run on either gasoline or CNG. (note the number of companies that do conversions in that sparsely populated state)

http://www.cngnow.com/EN-US/Vehicles/Pages/ConverttoCNG.aspx

Also note that the press has done a lousy job of telling folks that there is a huge tax credit to convert paying from half to 80% of the cost to do it. (notes in above article)

" Compressed natural gas systems offered by CNG Interstate are after market performance parts and do not change your vehicles current fuel injection system, but most importantly our kits do not tamper with the Federal Emission Standards. The dual fuel setup will allow your vehicle to run on gasoline or natural gas with the flip of a switch."

More here>>> http://cngoutfitters.com/

How bout LPG???

"While generic propane conversions used to be common fare for a trained mechanic (generally not for the DIY-er, though), most four-stroke engines (carbureted and fuel-injected) can still be converted to operate on propane when a certified technician installs the correct kit. And propane’s minimal sooting, owing to its low carbon content, means increased engine life, fewer oil changes and longer spark plug life. "

http://alternativefuels.about.com/od/propan1/a/propaneconvert.htm

"However, due to increased regulations from the EPA, there are very few propane conversion kits for U.S. street passenger vehicles available today. It has actually been a much more popular choice in Europe and other countries due to less stringent regulations and higher petrol prices. Even though propane powered engines offer cleaner emissions along with 10 to 15 percent less carbon dioxide, 20 percent less carbon monoxide and 50 to 60 percent less hydrocarbons and nitric oxide, tighter emissions regulations have changed the way conversion companies can do business. "

>>Other countries are far ahead of us in use of CNG/LPG for both business and personal use.

Did you know that you can by a Honda car in the USA that has this fuel use capability? Not many know because the press is too busy hyping the royal wedding kiss....

Waiting for MTU to bring one of these units out in the sled competitions....

Bring it on....the more options the better.....tired of being held by the Balz....how bout you???

Logic Check!

OK Nash, I'm a callin" you out! :D

$4.2 Billion for a car?
Huh?

Stop
Think
Reason

A B-2 Stealth bomber costs just over $1B in today's dollars, and you are trying to get me to believe a car costs over 4 times that much?

It may be possible that people who mis-spell "Cadilac" on their ranting posts might also not be too good on other facts, like cost.

Please note the following facts:

A) Prez bailed out GM costing, well....lots of money
B) GM agrees to build a UNION car for the Prez
C) Prez gets new Cadillac all decked out to be half tank half car (Cadillacs are tanks anyway...but who's keeping track....)
D) Prez pays 4.2 billion for new wheels.....
E) GM reports record profit of 1.7 billion (so the CEO needed to get paid, eh)

Any questions....film at 11, quiz on Monday......

I would not trust anyone to speculate the future of oil. I read just yesterday that the Chinese will suck down any new sources of oil and will also be accountable for 50% of all new demand. It appears we are just little pawns the big game. The current drop in demand will soon be cloaked by China's growing demand for black gold.

Good point! Score one for dcsnomo!

That did look suspicious to me as well, but it was too doggone late to research it last night (wee hours this morning). But I just knew someone here would catch it.

As it turns out, the article in which that appeared (the third citation in my original post) said:
"Price: 300 thousand pounds, or approximately USD 4.2 billion"
And as of today, £300,000.00 = $492,690.00, (or perhaps ≈$420,000.00 at the time the article was written — November 19, 2010); pocket change — a mere pittance, not even enough to buy a matched pair of Rolls-Royce Ghosts!

So I guess some Brits need to sigh up for Jethro Bodine's School o' Cypherin'!. :)

(Although I love the post by anonomoose as well!)

A)The limo was unveiled Jan 9, 2009
B) Obama took office Jan 20, 2009
c) Since the limo was in existence prior to him becoming president, I'm a guessin" the previous administration designed and ordered it, prior to the bailout
D) The GM profit of $1.7B is for Q1 2011, fully 2 years after the purchase of the limo, so I'm thinkin' under GASB standards they probably had to report the sale at time of delivery in Q1 2009, 2 years before the $1.7B profit
E) Your point "D" is not a fact, as there has been no official release of the price and $4B is a lot for a truck, even for our government! An Abrams tank costs $6M, a stealth bomber $1B, and the entire USS George HW Bush aircraft carrier (nuclear powered, 1000 ft. long) cost $6.2B). For $4.2B I can buy 2 Virginia class nuclear subs and and Abrams tank!

Can I skip the test and the film, and sign up for your BS detection class instead?

C'mon Moose...Hit Me!! :D
Great, something to do other than re-caulking bathrooms!

Thanks Nash! I shall take my point scored with grace and dignity, as it is rare someone scores one on you!!:p

So much for the grace and dignity thing!
