Gogebic are trails question

Yep. We won’t be back. Club can say whatever they want.

It has been bad long enough at Gogebic, that they will have to prove themselves for many riders to return. This is our plan to wait on REAL improvements. No worry though, as good news travels fast!!! It can be done, as the Munising/SORVA group has done, as well as Bruce Crossing/Sidnaw club, and The Keewe Club!!! All very good job, and well done. Good trail conditions bring riders. I still can't believe the businesses around Gogebic put up with the poor conditions as long as they have. Many people have said they don't appreciate snowmobiles as they used to???

I’ve experienced some brutal conditions in the last couple years in Bergland (LG). Trails have been consistently better north, east and south. West towards ironwood and hurley(8) are always ruff too.

I agree . Can’t believe the businesses haven’t cut someone’s balls off after the last ten years up there. So the only explanation is they don’t care about the sledders and don’t want the business. People can say what they want but there’s no other area in two states getting the reviews like Gogebic area.

What we are seeing is the invasion of the"silent sports" groups that despise any thing motorized except of course their suburu's taking over the area.

Hey Dan,
I saw your arrival date for when you will attack the U.P. trails this year, can you be the first to put up a discussion string on the "ride board"?

Thanks, Frank/Bear

To all those electing to stay away... Thank you! It will lessen the traffic some more. I don't get how you can compare the Gogebic area to others that have a fraction in the amount of traffic. Each year those clubs individually have issues and obstacles (breakdowns, unfrozen ground, lack of help) that play roles. There are some great work being done in that area, and after it froze last year it was better than in the past. But... please - if you want to improve it volunteer to help - or donate to the cause. Keyboard complaining about the conditions (I imagine the sample size is Friday PM to Sunday AM) doesn't help, nor does thinking that businesses have that much pressure on what these hard working groups can and cannot do. I would imagine there are some businesses that don't contribute much if anything. Each to their own - I ride that area every year from December to the end and appreciate the work that is done up there. Rant mode off.

Yep, we don't live there but the last thing a business will want to do is be a d1ck to there area neighbors by complaining. Attending meetings with solutions and volunteer time, yes....whining NO....too tight of communities up there and the off season is way longer than winter ride season....I blame sugar snow ...it never sets up.

Right on target snobuilder!!!

As for the amount of traffic in comparisons, there are many areas in the U.P that have as much, and more traffic as does the Gogebic area. My first encounter in the "Big Snow Belt" was in late 70's. I was hooked on the over abundant snow forever!!!!!!!!!! A lot has changed in that period of time, granted. And the Gogebic area was always one of our favorites, until they let their trail conditions turn in trash. With the grooming equipment of today, no excuse. We come to spend money, and do a good plenty of it. Gogebic's loss, someone else will gain!!!!!!!!!

I can't get my group to go back to Gogebic. We either ride northern WI or head up to Mass. When the trails are descent, which they usually are during the week, its a great place to ride. Early season riding can be a bit tough due to the swamps and if the lake isnt safe to ride we avoid the area all together.

I couldn’t agree more . I get tired of hearing the excuses when areas like boulder or Mercer have less snow , more traffic , and better trails . The response always is “ volunteer, donate money “ . The sooner clubs operate with a business approach maybe the off season could be profitable.

One would think a repeat Guest is worth a smile and a handshake when they are hard to come by.

Did you hear I got a 800 Axys? Gonna try what you enjoy.
