This weather sure brought snowmobiling to a screeching halt. It's hard not to think about some of those favorite summer hobbys so here's a little food for thought!

We are hitting the simulator on Sunday. It's hard to believe I was blasting down nice trails just over two weeks ago. If winter is over...so be it!! If I can be on the links in 3 weeks, I'm ok with that, too!

Sure, why not.

Luckily I have a short drive to a practice green.

I'll be out golfing a minimum of twice a week like every other year. But, ya know what pisses me off? Last end-of-winter I was playing golf in the week in NE IL and snowmobiling on Hero Snow in the Marquette area. Those were the 3 greatest weeks ever, naturally!

Nice picture. Where was that taken? I am actually looking forward to getting out on the golf course.

That's the 18th hole at Spooner Golf Club. That hole was voted one of the top 18 holes in Wisconsin. snodogg is the course Superintendent there and he does a great job! I'm a member and am on the Board of Directors and the Green Committee chairman. If you are ever in the area, you should try and play the course. For a small town the size of Spooner, you won't find a nicer course. Here's a few more shots of that hole.

That looks like a very nice course. I am on the greens committee as well at the course I belong to. I have been on that committee for over 10 years now and have learned a lot about course maintenance and what a superintendent has to deal with on a daily basis. (which includes the crazy requests from the committee which always adds more work for the superintendent). Snodogg sure gets my respect for the work he does and I will definetely have to play that course if I am in the area. It is sad but after looking at that photo I have already plotted out the way I would play that hole. I am just glad I hook the ball!

There are alot of great courses in that neck of the woods. My favorites include Turtleback in Rice Lake, and we are regulars every Sunday morning at Cumberland.

love that pitch and putt set up, i need to set one of those up. do you just lower the blade and cut it often? what kinda work/maintenance goes into the upkeep.

No time for the real stuff. It is a silica filled sythetic with 1.25" turf height. No maintenance. The green is quite realistic for feel and action. I checked into the real stuff and these guys can confirm that it is a ton of work to do for the average homeowner. Not to mention cost of equipment and supplies.

i live next to this school property that isn't maintained at all, and i make my own golf courses on it. i blitz the grass down and dig holes right on it! lol :D never been yelled at for it! i also ride circles around this tiny property (a creek is in between this tiny triangle plot of land and the school so the school don't care about it) and i've been riding circles with my sled around it since i was 5 yrs old. there's signs all around the school property that says no sleds on school property and i've never been yelled at for riding on this lil plot of land. kinda weird tho, but i mow it and i dethatch it for them in the spring because all the grass is patted down from sleddin. they are planning on putting a forest there now (which me and my neighbors are 100% VERY against!) and they plan on putting a 5 foot wide bridge right where i cross the creek with my sled when i ride to the trails. guess whats within 5 feet? lol kinda got off topic here sorry!
