That's cool I've been thinking about going out myself neighbor had two big ones in his yard the other night it was well after midnight but was like daylight outside. Did you call it in? what type of gun did you use.

Congrat's!
My son and I got our first one last weekend also.
I jumped it while looking for deer and hit it on the run with my muzzle loader, then went and got my 12yr old and a pistol. We tracked it to a log pile and could see it inside looking out at us, he finished it off with his 410. I usually just get to shoot AT them, they don't stay still long when you jump them and they are a small target inside a lot of fur.
What are you going to do with it?
Mine is still in the back of my truck, frozen solid.

My bud has a small farm in St Bonni and he has gotten like 14 this yr in the farm.they were taking out small dogs in town and they were taking his chickens and a baby pig

wow, that one looks big, 1/2 dog?

I don't think so, it was a male though. We are over run with coyote's in northern IL. I had the slowest deer season ever this year, and I think these guys are the reason. After I arrowed this guy he ran back into the cat-tail swamp he came from and let out his death-howl. Coyotes came running in from all directions, probably about 4 or 5. If I would of had my AR15 I probably would of had a few more to pose with. I don't think their killing the deer in my area but there definetly making their movements much harder to pattern. As soon as bow season is over I'm thinking of purchasing an electronic call, and really start going after these sobs.

I was actually out deer hunting with my ol smoke pole when I jumped it. It was about 10 yards away when I jumped it and it took off and I whistled and it stopped at about 35 yards away. It was standing in the brush facing away from me but I let it fly and ended up hitting it in the back part of the spine. I took it in that same day to get it stuffed. He said it would be about 3-4 months till I get it back.

I bought a few calls and a decoy last year but only got out a few times. I plan on getting out more this year and I’m going to give snaring a try too.

There definately tough to hunt, it kicks the adrenaline in when your working the call, lying prone and you realize a couple worked in 10 yards behind . Of course when I was tailed into my stand by a group of 5 wolves that was a little interesting way to start the day...

That sounds like it would be a blast. Some guys from work got one last weekend. I guess they called it in. Guy shot it at 210yds with a 30.06. Kinda like shootin a squirrel at 50yds. I can't wait to go!

Doggin' is always fun. Stay up late, have fun with your buddies.
Last weekend one of the guys at work went out and got 14 of them.
I use a .270 with 100 grain bullets.

Congrats on your first 'Yote!

It was def an adrenaline rush. I would like to buy a nice AR15 but I can’t really justify spending that much right now. Guess my single shot H&R .223 will have to work.

We recently attended a friends' anniversary party in Mundeliein, and when nightfall came the coyotes really came in close !! They are VERY thick there, and aren't afraid of people either. They need to be thinned out big time, and if i lived there with kids i would be worried about sending them out to play.
