well this is new for me.
I have goten a few call's this week from realtors in St Louis park MN.
guess if you want to sell a home in that city now you have to have a city inspector give the house the OK before you can list it.
*** is going on in this world.well it is SLP they get what they deserve vote for big gov libs to run the city councel for yrs and yrs now deal with it.
so 1 town home the stair rail spindals are to far apart and they dont like the Fedral Pacific breaker box[join the club] and miss GFI /smokes etc etc this is on a under 150k town home that the owner is already having to pay to get out from under of.
Guess Hoppkins is looking in to it. Hoppkins is already having all rentals inspected every 2 yrs.
it all works well for me but it is BS and scarry the reach of even local GOV is becoming capable of..

This comes as no surprise. We live in a land where you can sue somebody for serving you coffee that is too hot. There really is no end in sight to rules and regulations. Just wait until everything in the new health care law gets phased in. Stock up on blood pressure pills.

That seems excessive. I have rentals and I know if I do a section 8 they are inspected but not all my rentals are ever inspected if I rent them to private and paying individuals. As for general real estate transactions, that's why a buyer gets his own inspection. It sounds like someone just needs to justify a job. Good grief, what is going to come next?

Ezra, We have an HVAC company in SLP, The city just filled a "position" to fullfill nothing but rental property inspections/lawn length conforming/environmental BS. It was posted for 70K a year!! Are you fricken kidding me?? It's no wonder the firehouses they are building and the new city municipal Taz ma hal they just just completed!! I just can't figure out why are taxes at the shop are so high?!

A revolution is near or we will become known as the Roman-Americans in the history books.

PS- St. Paul is twice as bad with their crap!

This does sound a bit excessive, why would a city want to get involved in the sale of a detached single family home ? My city has been red tagging the foreclosed homes but that is mostly to deal with a house that has been stripped or vandalized. If stuff met code when it was built it is grandfathered but if it is unsafe or hazardous it must be repaired to code prior to a new occupancy permit being issued.

Wow, I can see justification for multi-family dwellings just because what ever happens in1 unit can effect the others, but building codes have come along way over the years and the cost to bring everything up to current can be cost prohibitive hence the term "as is". Any inspection is as only good as the inspector and will usually only show the obvious and not hidden defects but do they check for un-permitted work like a basement build out ? Do they charge for the inspection and any re-inspections ? I guess it is one way to keep their staff busy if there is no new construction going on...

Give NUMB NUTS 4 more years and see what we get. As Michigan's former governor would say " You ain't seen nothing yet".
OK I will stop now!

Don't forget the additional 3% ''tax'' on all retirement investments when you cash them out. This is also attached to the OCare bill.

Two funny points: 1-that doesn't go into effect magically until after the next rigged election. 2-Municipal bonds are exempt from this "tax" on your retirement. Who do think has municipal bonds in their portfolios? Government workers??

SLP has been doing this inspection gig for at least 3 years as far as I know.

check out the price chart.
thought gov was non profit well say a gov worker is making the stated 70k a yr + pension and full med that is what 120k a yr that is about 57 hr the stripped down ranger is good for what 5 yrs so that is close to 70 bucks a week if there is no reasle lets give it 100 a week in fuel so that is say $3.20 a hr
they sat 45 min to 1 hr for a cost starting at 215 to me that leaves a profit of 145 hr for the city ok so we pull drive time and off time still 100 hr profit not bat with I could pull 100hr profit from one of my guys.
F em I will never buy a home in that city and will warn all my customers what that city is doing and to watch out for it in your own city
