I know we have touched on this many times. My XOG died today and it has been discountinued for many years.
Currently looking for a new GPS that can be dash/handle bar mounted, easy to read in blue bird skies, large screen and touch screen. Oh and it needs to work great on a sled, motorcycle and in my truck. I would be using it in Northern Ontario and in the western states the most.

Any Ideas??? currently looking at the Garmon Montana 650T. I like the preloaded topo map idea. But by the time I add in mounts, and trail maps I could be in the way high dollars. What works for you guys.

I have a garmin 60 csx (also discontinued) that I was looking to upgrade also. I really like the 60 series - it's basically unbreakable but I would like to get one with faster processing power and a bigger screen. The Montana series seems to be the way to go, but too pricey for me right now, so I'll probably hold off for another year or so. The waterproof nuvi 500/550's were popular a few years back. They are now discontinued but you can still find them for around $200-250. I'm still thinking about going that route. They don't have all features of some of the others but have a bigger screen.

I got a garmin rino 650 this year. GPS plus two way radio, weather band radio, send txt, and polling feature. Now I don't have to carry a seperate 2 way radio out west. Plus the polling feature is, say something happens and I'm unconscious or something. My buddy tries calling me but I don't respond, so he polls me on the gps. That will lead him right to my location. Pretty good safety feature if you ask me. Of course your buddy needs a rino as well. My bud and his wife both got them this year also.

Free maps are online also.
I only use a gps riding in the mtns or hunting in mtns or canada. Never used a gps trail riding.

I have the nuvi 550. Works good. I use for my snowmobile, atv, and car. I know people who use it for their boat too.

I've been real happy with my Garmin 450. Almost got the Nuvi 500, but wanted a gps to fit in my pocket. I don't carry paper maps any more. The Oregon is a step down from the Montana and a little smaller. I use it in my autos, on my sled, on my cycles, hiking, boat, bicycle, walking in an unfamiliar city etc. I know have an iPhone, so the Garmin stays home a little more often.
