Grand Marais, MI

I'm assuming the answer to this question is no, but are you able to enter Grand Marais from the east anywhere? Or is the only entrance point coming from the west on trail 8 and then going through that little park?

Thanks in advance!

You’re supposed to take trail 8 from the west side into town. I was however on absolute fumes and didn’t think I’d make the extra 5 or so miles around so I rode the side of grand Marais rd into town once from the east side. There is a somewhat packed down “trail” alongside the lakeshore up to cemetery rd, so it’s really only about a mile from marked trail to cemetery rd by the lakeshore.

You can ride H-58 (the road) into Grand Marais from the East. Keep your speed under the speed limit once you get into town.

There used to be "no snowmobiles" signs when coming from the east to keep sleds on the designated trail.

I don't recall seeing those signs in the last few times I've been through there, but the majority of traffic still runs the signed trail.

There’s a big billboard style sign saying to take the trail. I would only utilize taking Grand Marais rd (H58) if you have to (for lodging, fuel, emergency, etc) just my 2 cents

Thank you all for the input. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something on the maps.

Yep Indy, I'll just plan to take the trail in and out. I don't want to cause any issues or create another black eye for the sport. I'm inherently a rule follower anyways!
