Grand Marais

Does anyone know if the snowmobile trails through the National Park will be opened with the government shutdown? I remember they blocked the roads when we had a shutdown during the warmer months.

H58 is a county road, fairly illegal to block it. NPS could block some of the side spurs that access specific areas, but not the road itself.

Maybe you saw it blocked when they were doing the major paving/reconstruction on the road.

I checked and the trails are open through the National Park during the shutdown. If it was summer the park would be closed.

Now the problem is the forecast! Looks like the weather guessers have backed way off on Thursdays storm and added rain!

I hope all that rain doesn't melt the inch of snow that falls. I have reservations so I'm heading up to Grand Marais. Will keep our fingers crossed that we can get in and out of town without wearing down our skaggs...

Any updates? I was going to tough it out and still hoping for a couple inches of snow on the back end but as it looks now I'm thinking of canceling. I'm leaving in 2 hours! I just figure in and out of towns is going to be horrible and and the trials incredibly icy.

Grand Marais, Mi is toast! Stay home, it rained all night long, grass showing in town and trails are ice/bare!
