I did a quick spin at lunch today...Shiocton....Black Creek Area. The fields are pretty rough with lots of thin spots and drifts of course. Should be pretty darn nice after a couple hits with the groomer.
I rode tonight from Brenda's Bar near Oneida out to "A" towards Hortonville, then 5 out to HWY 54 then back to Freedom and again back towards Wrightstown.
Sad to say a ton of snow is blown off the groomed trails down to the plowed and corn fields. Tons of drifts that will likely get groomed again which will help, all in all it is nice to ride from home.
Lots of road-crossings are drifted over in the ditch and hiding a deep ditch, please be careful everywhere you ride, lots of suprises.
Oh yeah, it's freeking cold!
One needs be very careful with these conditions. Snow drifts, blowing snow, wind, temps, and especially road plow banks! Blinded by snow, I went over a plow bank slow, only to find a 8+ ft drop! Yikes! My ribs would have been altered badly if not for my TekVest! Everyone please be careful, and stay safe!
Took a 50 mile cruise after work around hortonville/stephensville/greenville/dale. With zero wind today, the temps werent a big deal whatsoever. The plowed fields are trecherous. Like bare. Probably the worst I've ever seen plowed fields in my snowmobiling career, and ive been going around here since 2002ish. Other than the plowed fields theyre poor to fair. Still definitely better than not riding, but not sure id take a $10k+ sled out on them. Really crossing my fingers we can get through this warmup, but i dont think itll happen. The plowed fields are already completely dirt, anything over 30 is going to melt down the little bit of snow we have in those fields really quick. Pray for snow guys!
