Grip Replacement tech tip

I just replaced the grips & heater elements on my 07 rev. They weren't really designed for the " cork " pads underneath never the less my bars were working as a heat sink and I added the cork & filled the bars with minimual expanding great stuff. The left bar was 1 of those 90 deg hooks. 1 grip I used ( right side ) some mold grease to slide it on and battled it all the way. Talked to a dirt bike bud, and he recommended " dish soap " The 90 deg hook side, I thought would be a problem but after using the dish soap it slid right on !!! Just thought I would pass it on, if anyone decided to add cork pads ( thus increase the bar thickness ) this trick really works well.

Someone once told me to use hair spray. Spray it and slide the grip on while still wet. When it dries, it will help hold in place.

Hairspray works extremely well, I do this whenever I need to replace grips. Once dried, they stay where you put them!

I used to use dish soap, but once the handwarmers got the grips warm, the the soap would loosen back up, and the grips would spin on the bars or start sliding off.

Mine seemed to hold fine for 300 miles. In the beginning I had mentioned the cork , which added some thickness. I barely got the short grip on with some grease and heating with a heat gun. Take the post for whatever usefullness it is. It seemed to work with the long grip, cork layer, H element and the 90 deg bend.

When we added cork on my son's Vector we used compressed air to expand the grip. 100PSI worked really good.....slid right on.....doubt they're ever coming off!

So how are the newly corked grips? Worked great on the 08 Vector....
