's [sic] for the birthday wish
's [sic] y'all!
Yeah, I'm still breathin' at 78! Ye dog
's [sic]!
But I'm threw
[sic] counting birthday
's [sic].
Note: I yoosta thunk thi
's [sic] apostrophy-s construct wuz used only for:
- The marking of possessive case of nouns (as in the eagle's feathers, or in one month's time).
- The marking of the omission of one or more letters (as in the contraction of do not to don't).
- The marking of plurals of individual characters (e.g. p's and q's).
But so many of y'all have finally learned
[sic] me that ya got
's [sic] ta precede each and every terminal "s" wit wunna dem apostrophe
's [sic], just because.
So I give up. You win. I'm gonna do it your way from here out.
Particularly for plural
's [sic] as in:
"I have three dog's [sic] and two cat's [sic], and no sled's [sic]."
(And they say ya cant teach old dog
's [sic] new trick
's [sic]?
)
