Since 2020 has been short on Happy Endings I thought I'd share one of mine. About a month ago I noticed my truck making a clicking noise, not quite a clunk but definitely a noise coming from the front left underside. It seemed to go away for a few days and then would come back and was getting progressively worse. Of course I checked under the hood and went underneath with the creeper. Nothing loose, nothing broken, nothing but that clicking noise but not quite a clunk and usually whenever I made a right hand turn. I talked to some guys at work and they thought it might be a bad CV Joint. On-line, Google said it might be a bad CV Joint. The CV Joint is like a universal for the front drive on a 4X4. So......I made an appointment with my local mechanic. and dropped the truck off for repairs. About an hour later the mechanic calls and the conversation went like this;

ME: Hi this Gary

MECHANIC: Yeah, looks like you've got a squirrel problem.

ME: Huh?

MECHANIC: Looks like a squirrel was stocking up for winter, we found a couple of Walnut seeds hidden between the body panel and frame. Whenever you hit a bump or make a turn those nuts would rattle around and make that noise.

ME: You gotta be kidding me.

MECHANIC: Nope, you can pick up your truck anytime today.

Looking back, our backyard has been thick with squirrels this Fall. The dog loves chasing them but as soon as she comes in the house, they're back. Apparently one of those varmints tried to move into the garage too. And that my friends is a Happy Ending!

I am at a loss for words, other than, you are ohh so lucky. Hope you can keep the varments out, they can be a real pita... -Mezz

You're lucky----Squirrel chewed my wiring in my truck and cost me $700 to repair.

Next door neighbor was in Florida and left his second vehicle in Michigan and the squirrels chewed his wiring in his car. Cost him $3500.

We only had a 1 car garage at the time & the wife's car was parked there. One day she went out to start the car and head for work and car wouldn't start. After some time, it started but missed and skipped really bad. She limped it into the dealer [not far]. Here her air filter was completely full of bird seed. Evidently, when one of us had filled the bird feeder, we forgot to put the lid on the container and mice got in it and completely filled her air filter overnight. At least we didn't have a big repair bill.

A few years ago I forgot a bag of corn in my garage at the cabin. Usually put it in a metal 55 gallon drum with a metal lid on it. Went back 2 weeks laters both 4 wheelers had clutches packed tight with corn. Took me 3 hours to take clutch covers off and clean out all the corn. Learned a lesson to check where I leave the bag of corn and get better mouse traps.

This year I found 4 dead baby mice in one of the 4 wheelers that had been sitting for a month or so at the cabin. Made a real neat noise when i started it and smelled great. Still need better mouse traps
