Here is a nice shot of the big lake from yesterday.

Compare that with just 2 weeks ago.

Add some 25 MPH winds from the west tonight and tomorrow and the western end might just be back in business.

Getting late in the season for a lot more LES though.

wow, that's incredible. How much LE do we typically get in the month of march, just a guess on average 50"?

Best guess on what will be open towards the end of March? I heard some warming may occur but is there enough cover on the trails to withstand a warm spell for a while? ("guessing/past observations/gut feeling")

Same question here. Some of us from this board are planning a bag trip to the western UP for around the 21st of March. There's got to be enough snow to make it through a warm spell.......right? Please say it'll be OK!! LOL!! :)

Way too far out to say. There certainly is a great base out there now, but the end of March is also 4 weeks out.

When we were driving home from the cabin along the north shore the previous weekend we were amazed how much ice there was. Ice as far as you could see. Now driving home this last weekend it was water as far as you could see, what a difference.
