Has anyone put a plow on their UTV?

I'm looking at a few as I didn't buy one last year. I've looked at ones that are raised and lowered by the winch and also some that use hydraulics. I like the Boss Power XT V blade but the cost is big. I also like the blizzard UTV blade.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these? It seems I can get set up for about three times as much as just a straight blade powered by the winch.

I've heard of few stories of just less expensive models bending and needing some replacement parts, or welds. I guess that comes with the territory with any plows.

If there is any thoughts, please chime in.

Thanks,

I had a moose straight plow on my ATV that was raised and lowered by the winch. The only problem if you want to call it that was I had to replace the roller fairlead on the winch a couple of times. The blade was slightly bigger then the wheel base so when angled it still cleared a path big enough to drive through.

I beat the snot out of that plow pushing wet snow deeper then the plow height as well as using it to level out dirt and gravel, and never had any issues with bending or breaking anything. The trip feature on the blade will pivot the blade parallel to the ground saving any damage to the blade or push frame.

Here's what I have for my Prowler. I use to use a Moose 72" straight blade, but the plow frame on it was not built to take the pushing power of the Prowler. After replacing one frame & after reinforcing 2 additional frames I decided enough was enough. This one has a quick attach system, so no more crawling around on the ground to hook up & disconnect. I know this will not work for your Gator, but, IMO, I wouldn't spend 2-3g on a plow, unless your going to be making $$$$ with it.-Mezz Prowler Snow Plow.jpg

My dad put a plow on his Kubota RTV. The plow was "designed" for the Kubota but upon delivery it was obviously a slightly reinforced ATV plow. Took less than 3 uses to bend the snot out of the frame.

What ever you buy make sure it is really designed for a UTV, they have gotten big enough now to rival the pushing power of some small pickups...

Shorter the push tubes the better. Rapidtach is normally better in that perspective. See less metal fatigue. The moose plows are good if you keep things simple. No matter what it seems there is weld reinforcing but nice after that. The vplow moose seem to be junk. If the winch has the fiberglass rope all the better. :) Alot of times you buy just the 10ft or so and add it, spend the money and replace all the steel braided with fiberglass. My 2 cents. :) Human, not perfect.

Well I wish I could tell you.

I bought a RZR and the 60 inch plow which is the Polaris plow (I think it's a Boss) and it's winch powered. I wasn't able to use it last year at home in Ohio because there was never enough snow. It just collects dust.

Good luck on whatever you get.
